A friend of mine on Facebook posted a quote from The Secret yesterday, which in my view is extremely inaccurate. Here’s the quote:
“Giving is a powerful action to bring more money into your life, because when you are giving you are saying, “I have plenty.” It will not be surprising to you to learn that the wealthiest people on the planet are the greatest philanthropists. They give away vast amounts of money, and as they give, by the law of attraction, the Universe opens up and floods vast amounts of money back to them – multiplied.”
I think this is worth discussing because it is so commonly taught and believed.
And yet I know plenty of people who have given much, but nothing has changed for them.
It reminds me of the old Christian teaching about tithing. Countless pastors tout the importance of tithing and the miracles that will happen if you do, and yet I’ve heard stories of people who literally couldn’t pay their bills because they had to pay their 10% to the church.
So here’s the truth: there’s no specific action you need to take to be rich. There are rich people who give tons of money every year, and there are rich people who sit on their wealth and let it accumulate. There are rich people who spend freely, and there are rich people who are incredibly frugal.
Giving isn’t some magical action that will unlock the abundance of the universe. In fact, I guarantee you the Universe couldn’t care less if you gave or not. You could give not a single penny and still have incredible levels of abundance.
Because, abundance isn’t based on what you do. It’s based on how you feel.
I’ll write that again because it’s so important: abundance isn’t based on what you do, it’s based on how you feel.
You could give, and feel worried about what you have left.
Or you could not give, and feel grateful for the money you have.
Which person is more likely to manifest greater abundance?
Of course, I’m not saying not to give. If that’s important to you, then feel free.
I’m just saying it has nothing to do with your level of abundance.
Don’t feel guilty if you’d rather not give. Or don’t be disappointed if you start giving and nothing changes.
If you’ve read my writings long enough, you know that I tripled my income in less than 6 months.
And in that 6 months, I didn’t give away anything.
I changed how I felt.
And most importantly, I used my will to decide that I was done being poor.
It’s the will, most of all, that dictates the changes you will create.
And yet the will is often ignored in LOA teachings. Very few people discuss its importance.
It is your will, shaped by your inner vision, which creates results.
And so if you want to create change in your life, you first have to create your inner vision.
That’s why in three days I’m offering my new class, Letting Your Vision Prevail.
I will show you why it is so important to create your inner vision, and how to hold it until it manifests in your reality.
The class will be held on Saturday, January 2 at 1PM EST.
But of course if you can’t attend live, it will be recorded so you can access it at any time.
