As anyone can readily tell, this year has been unlike any in recent history.
But it’s not just the coronavirus. It’s the politics, the protests, the rioting, and everything else all piled on top of each other.
As such I’ve been noticing some dangerous undercurrents. Specifically there is tons of anger and fear out there just floating around — or more like raging through our collective unconscious.
There’s always a bit of that, but I think there’s more today than I’ve ever seen, at least in my lifetime.
And I know in the grand scheme of things, nothing’s really all that new, but still, it’s nothing to be ignored, either.
It’s so easy to get swept up by that anger, that fear, or even that despair. It’s like a powerful undercurrent in the ocean trying to pull you out to sea.
But what’s it all mean? Is it just an amalgamation of various, unrelated elements that have all just so happened to come together at the perfect time?
Or could there perhaps be something more?
Who Are the Archons?
Before I get started, I want to say that what I’m about to introduce may sound pretty far out there. And indeed I’m not so sure myself if this is the explanation.
But I think it provides a useful analogy to a deeper reality that I do think is accurate.
You see, about 2,000 years ago there was a group called the gnostics. They believed that this world was actually created by an evil force who actively tried to keep us from the knowledge of the divine. It was our job, according to them, to gain knowledge (gnosis) of our own divine nature and thus ascend beyond the control of such evil beings.
A bit far out there, and a perfect example of the duality between matter and spirit, where they believed spirit was good, and matter was evil.
Obviously I don’t hold to such a belief, but it’s poisoned our society for thousands of years, where spiritual people to this day believe that the material realm is somehow lesser than the spiritual, and so material pursuits should be rejected.
Anyway, the gnostics believed in a class of being they called the archons (“rulers” in Greek). The archons were responsible for ruling (thus the name) over the material world, and keeping souls under their control. They were responsible for stirring up the evil inclinations in souls, and if souls gave in to this temptation, then the archons’ control was magnified.
Now I’ve seen some truly far-fetched theories about these beings, if indeed they do exist. Many of them I scoff at as clearly the product of a paranoid mind.
But I’m less willing to dismiss their existence wholesale. After all, in a very real sense, everything exists on one plane or another. Gods, angels, demons, nature spirits, elementals — they all exist somewhere within this vast universe. Who am I to say that archons do not exist as well?
And I think that their existence, however analogical, explains a great deal about certain phenomena I have been witnessing.
What I have heard from people who have studied such things is that archons are a lower astral parasite who feed on the negative emotions of humans. I know for a fact that such negative astral beings exist, whatever label you attribute to them. We may as well call them archons here.
Anyway, these beings, in order to produce more “food” for themselves, are not beyond inciting such negative emotions. They might do so through manipulating the mind to focus on certain thoughts, but it’s also possible that groups of them might influence swaths of society to generate the negative energy they crave.
A normal psychic vampire would drain the life essence from their victim. But archons are interested in the continued availability of their food source, so instead of overly draining their victims of essence, they instead cause them to generate excess negative emotions, and simply feed on this.
But of course, such a parasitical relationship isn’t without its impact: those victims upon which they feed will subsequently be more susceptible to this kind of manipulation and feeding in the future.
That is, every time you are fed upon by these beings, it makes it that much easier for them to do it again later on.
Sound crazy? Have you ever noticed that for someone who indulges in their anger, they are more and more susceptible to anger in the future? Not only this, but it seems like more and more trivial things actually trigger this anger?
Some of this can be explained by the law of attraction, but don’t believe for a second that there aren’t astral parasites feeding off of that negative emotion.
But unfortunately we get so swept away by that emotion, and find innumerable justifications for feeling the way we do, that we take no notice that we may be being fed upon.
I remember the first couple of years after Christine and I got married, we used to argue regularly. And not just small arguments, either: these would last literally for hours.
And being sensitive to energy, I could often feel the aftereffects of such violence to the psyche. Emotionally I would feel out of sorts for some time even after we had made up. But even more than that, the room itself had an aura of the negativity that had passed.
I can tell you 100% that negative emotions generate significant amounts of energy. And just as thoughts attract like thoughts to themselves, so certain types of spirits are attracted to certain types of energy.
It took a lot of inner work to clean up that energy and to stop generating more of it. It’s all too easy to give into inertia and keep doing what you have always done.
A Perfect Storm of Negativity
And this is why I am so concerned about the current environment we find ourselves in.
This is, to any sane person, a horribly scary time. There’s a virus on the loose that is easily spread, and for too many, leads to death or else symptoms that can scar the respiratory system for who knows how long. You can catch it even from someone who is asymptomatic,, so often you don’t know if you’ve caught it until it is too late.
Not only this, but it has crippled the economy. Small businesses are closing left and right — businesses which served their community for years or even decades. Over 10% of the country is unemployed and I regularly read stories of people who don’t know how they are going to get by until the government is able to agree on another stimulus package. Unemployment is no certain thing, as many have applied but have not heard back for weeks or months while their resources gradually dwindle.
Add to this the recent racial tensions, the protests that have broken out, and the ceaseless rioting in the streets over the past 2 months, and you have a perfect storm of negativity.
I don’t mean to sound defeatist. There are plenty of good things happening around the world as well, but it’s extremely easy right now to get caught up and swept away by the negative. Some people prefer to shove their head in the sand and pretend nothing is wrong, but this is really just another escape mechanism.
What caused all of this? I honestly have no idea. Is it some global cleansing, some negative manifestation coming back on the world as a whole, or some mischievous entities causing havoc? Maybe it’s all of the above, or maybe it’s something else entirely.
Actually that’s not entirely correct. Personally I do believe that this is some sort of global pause button being pressed — a forced halt to our regular schedules. So many of us have gotten used to the constant grind of life — the day-in and day-out ceaseless activity of just surviving, but never really stopping to look at ourselves or what we actually wanted.
It came at the perfect time for me: literally just weeks after I quit my job for those very same reasons. On some level I feel like what’s going on around the world is a reflection of what I’ve had to deal with internally. I needed a time to just pause, to just reflect, and this pandemic has certainly forced me to do that.
However, out of this sudden global halt arises chaos. People don’t know what to do with themselves and so they deteriorate into madness. We are suddenly forced to stop and take a look at the worst, most hidden parts of our psyches, and that energy is manifesting outwardly for those who don’t know how to deal with it.
So let me tell you what I noticed.
For the last several months, I noticed more and more people reacting angrily on social media. That’s nothing new, of course, but it seemed to be taken to another level.
Traditional news media just fanned the flames. The news has always tilted towards the negative, but every story I heard, every article I read, was based on either fear or anger — this “us” vs. “them” attitude that just caused further division.
I found myself getting caught up in it. I constantly found things to get angry about. I would share articles on Facebook or Twitter that just gave me more reason to be angry. And then those who disagreed with me would see me as the enemy, and to be fair I’d reciprocate their view, seeing them as the ones who were clearly wrong and even stupid.
I was angry about the Fed’s constant bailout of the market, about investors bidding up stocks even though the economy was failing, about cancel culture, about people insisting on tearing down statues, about the demands to defund the police.
You can probably tell I have a more conservative slant. On the liberal side, there have been just as many things to get angry about though, and both sides saw the other as the enemy — as the source of all the problems in the world.
I one day stopped and noticed what I was doing. It’s not the opinions that are at fault: all the things I stated are things I hold very strong opinions about. It’s the emotional response that was misplaced.
The more articles I shared or tweets I retweeted confirming my particular worldview and the cause of my anger, I just got even more upset, and that anger would multiply thanks to the law of attraction.
So I stopped and thought, I don’t want to be this type of person. I don’t want to let anger and fear rule my life. It doesn’t feel good, and there’s never a resolution, because anger and fear can only ever lead to more anger and fear.
I’ve had to unfriend people on Facebook, unfollow people on Twitter, and stop visiting certain websites. Even still it leaks through because it’s so pervasive, and even still I find myself reacting to something, but it’s been easier to catch myself in the act and stop.
But it’s still happening to others. I’m in a spiritual group on Facebook that I’m on the verge of leaving because this negativity has taken over most of the discussions.
The insidious thing is that people feel justified in their anger. And from a certain standpoint, they certainly may be. But, “justified” isn’t the same thing as helpful or productive.
Stop Being a Victim
Now just imagine for a moment that what I said about archons is true: there is a group of lower astral parasites who feed off of the negativity of mankind, and who even manipulate us to generate more such negativity.
Wouldn’t recent events be a true feast for such beings? And growing stronger off of so much negative emotion, would they not then want to manipulate us to generate even more?
Personally when I look at the volatility of the world today, I can absolutely see this being true. Almost every day there is something that people are getting angry at, or that causes them to be fearful or to despair.
Just step out of the situation for a moment and see it as an observer might. Just pay attention not to the content, but to the emotion. Whether you think it’s justified or not, notice how the explosive nature of this negativity tends to spread like wildfire.
And with the knowledge of the law of attraction — that the more we focus on negativity, the more we create — is it any wonder that it’s all reaching critical mass?
And add in the potential for astral parasites having a field day with such negativity… well, it’s easy to see why things have gotten so out of hand.
While everyone goes around feeling justified in their anger and outrage, astral parasites are happily feasting on the resultant negativity, and nudging us to create more of it.
We’ve become victims, albeit seemingly willing ones, since most have never realized that they are being attacked.
And the best victim is one who is willing, who is happy to fall right into the trap set out for them — and then to do it over and over again
Here are 6 tweets I hand-picked from 6 different media sources. I deliberately picked from a variety of conservative and liberal media so as to not be accused of playing sides.
As you read through these tweets, again try not to look at the content, but at the emotion that is evoked. Notice how easy it is to react emotionally to these — how often the tweets are written exactly for the purpose of evoking a certain emotion.
And this is just a few tweets. There are countless tweets, Facebook posts, and news articles going out on a daily basis, just for the purpose of evoking anger or fear in others. I’m sure that’s not necessarily their intent — I’m sure they, too, feel justified in their inflammatory headlines — but the cumulative effect is rather explosive to say the least.
This is how such astral parasites gain a foothold. They give people exactly what they want: something to react to and feel outraged about.
But what would you like to contribute to the world? Would you like to contribute anger, or peace? Would you like to contribute fear, or hope?
Regardless what might seem obvious, anger won’t solve anything. You can’t post enough angry Facebook posts, can’t yell at enough people who hold the “wrong” opinion, can’t even attend enough angry protests, to fix anything. It just contributes more anger.
I’m not saying that there is not anything wrong with the world. I’m saying that giving your focus to the wrong will just increase it. I’m saying that spreading negativity will poison the world even more, and if such astral parasites exist, will give them a stronger foothold, both in the world as a whole as well as in your own life.
You might even think this has no relevance to you. Maybe you don’t read such media, or you make it a rule not to share such articles.
Still it doesn’t mean you are immune. With so much of the world reacting so strongly as above, it creates certain undercurrents in the collective unconscious, which can be extremely easy to get caught up in.
I’ve seen undercurrents of anger, hate, fear, despair, and lack, far more powerfully than in recent history.
I already covered the anger, hate, and fear for the most part. But there is despair, too, as people encounter something they never have before, which is frightening, and there’s currently no clear path out of the situation as it is today. Not to mention, people are still losing their jobs or are actively unemployed, and so there’s the despair and hopelessness of trying to make it through financially.
And the lack is obvious: with so many unemployed, more and more people are unable to meet the basic necessities of life, and they don’t know where relief will come from.
It doesn’t really matter if none of this describes you. These are strong undercurrents, and I’ve personally experienced that it is very easy to get caught up in them subconsciously, and you may not notice until it is too late. You have to be extremely self-aware of what emotions you are giving your attention to from moment-to-moment. A negative emotion is not always your own: it may have its source in the collective unconscious; but just because it’s not yours doesn’t mean it can’t influence you.
Defending Against the Archons
Things are far from hopeless. There is a solution, but it requires, as I said, for you to be extremely self-aware and able to resist the temptation to react without thinking.
We have two choices when we are presented with energy, whether in the guise of emotion or thought: we can react to it, or process it.
If we react to it, we are the next link in the chain allowing that energy to get stronger. It will not only manifest more strongly for us as a result, but it will add to the collective negativity of the world.
But if we process it, then we interrupt the chain. It gets weaker, both for ourselves and for the collective unconscious.
As I said above, energy is not always just our energy. We are constantly adding to or subtracting from the net energy of the collective unconscious. We are either strengthening the negative, or weakening it. We are either strengthening the positive, or weakening it. We do so by our daily, moment-by-moment attention.
The more we focus on lack, we add not only to the lack of our own situation, but to the lack of the world. The more we focus on abundance, we add not only to our own abundance, but to the abundance of the world. It is either win-win, or lose-lose: there is no in between.
And so when these collective undercurrents hit upon our own consciousness, we have a choice, either to add to its momentum or to weaken it.
Again, we add to it by reacting to it. But how do we weaken it instead?
We process it. The best way to process energy is by allowing it to flow through us without resistance or reaction.
You see, resistance would only add to it, just as reaction would. Any type of reaction to the energy, by either getting caught up in it, or actively resisting it, will add to its momentum because of our focus.
The only way to process negative energy is by allowing it to freely flow through us without reaction. We totally accept it for what it is, and give it the room to exist in this moment.
Remember how above I had you look at some tweets and try to take the stance of an observer? Hopefully you were able to see the emotionality of the tweets, without getting caught up in it yourself. If not, scroll up and try again.
That simple non-reactive stance allowed you to process a bit of that energy, instead of adding to its momentum. And by processing it, you weaken its influence on the collective unconscious.
Every time you see a reactive headline but resist the temptation to react to it yourself, you weaken its influence.
Every time you feel a bit of that anger, hate, fear, despair, or lack, but manage to allow it to flow through you unimpeded, you weaken its influence.
And every time you weaken that energy, you weaken the negative manifestations of that energy. And, astral parasites have less and less of a foothold, both in your life as well as in the world, meaning they, too, have less influence to incite more negativity.
It’s easy, and yet not. It’s too easy to react, justified as we may feel. But once you are aware, you can catch yourself more frequently, and it becomes easy to take a stance of non-reaction.
This is the way of non-doing — the Way of the Tao, as it were.
And this is exactly what is meant by lightwork, by the way, though most don’t realize. But it’s also darkwork, except with differing motives.
A darkworker’s intentions, counter to popular belief, are not to incite negativity in the world. A darkworker only cares about doing their will, whereas a lightworker predominantly cares about helping others.
A lightworker will do the above process of non-reaction for the purpose of clearing the energy of the world. A darkworker will primarily do this work to clear the obstacles to their own will, though clearing the energy of the world is a nice side effect.
Regardless, this is a light technique, able to be used by light and dark aligned people alike. It doesn’t matter the motive behind it: I simply want to make it known what all the effects are, and you can determine for yourself why you are doing it.
The full implications of lightworkers vs. darkworkers is best left for a future post, but I just wanted to touch upon it briefly.
Regardless, by using the technique of non-reaction, you can process the negative undercurrents of the collective unconscious, and free yourself, and a measure of the world, from their effects. It really is that simple. Do not react, and you will heal both yourself and the world.

I just found your website a few days ago, and thought you’d stopped updating it – then you go and post something on the very topic that keeps popping up for me again and again! I’ve recently been reading about the wetiko phenomenon that Native Americans first spoke about (author Paul Levy is a good source), and it’s pretty much what you’ve described here about archons. And the same idea is found in many cultures around the world. A mind parasite which acts on us through our blind spots and causes us to project our shadow emotions onto others (fear, anger, etc). We get triggered and react, and as a result the parasite has a stronger hold on us.
I’ve definitely noticed that people with lower vibrations and unhealed shadows are getting a LOT worse. But disconcertingly, I’m also noticing it in myself. And its weird, because I went through a dark night of the soul in 2019 (not my first, but by far my worst). I did a lot of healing, and as a result I feel on one hand like I’m more spiritually, emotionally and mentally healthy than I’ve ever been before. But at the same time, I’m now getting triggered by the smallest, most idiotic things. I do my shadow work diligently, so mostly I’m able to not react, and then work through the energy – but damn it’s exhausting! Especially when the things I’m getting triggered over feel so trivial.
Regarding lightworkers vs darkworkers… I’ve always thought of myself as a shadow worker and a lightworker. My main aim was always to slough off all the negative programming, cultural conditioning and trauma, so that I could become closer to my authentic self (God-self, Buddhahood, higher self, whichever word you want to use). A happy side effect was realising that the more I did this, the more positively I affected the lives of the people around me. Now I do what I do knowing that when I heal myself, I heal the collective as well. Even working on what some may think are shallow and superficial manifestations, I still need to heal myself on some level. As long as we’re processing energy and healing, we are helping the collective 🙂 That’s one of the reasons why I love this path so much – when you do it right, its usually a win-win (except for the archons. I hope they lose).
Hey Karin, thanks so much for your comment!
What you call “shadow work” I think is not at all at odds with light work. In fact I think it’s really the only valid, lasting way of working through our personal issues. Shadow is not the same thing as darkness.
You sound to me to be on the Path of Light / right-hand path since your interest is in healing the world, and that’s not a bad thing at all. I’m on the Path of Darkness / left-hand path where my interest is primarily in accomplishing my own will. I’m not upset if the world is helped along the way as a nice side effect, but it’s really not my focus or concern.
But as I showed in the post, light and dark can use similar tools to accomplish very different ends. This is something I hope to discuss further in future posts as it is all too often glossed over.
So glad you enjoyed the post and welcome to the blog!
Thanks for the welcome 🙂
Honestly, I kind of vacillate, so I’m not sure I fit into either. I find myself drawn to LHP teachings more often than RHP teachings. And while all outer appearances point to me being a stereotypical love and light witch, I’m not averse to using baneful magick if needed, for example in situations of self-defence or injustice. At the end of the day, my practice is very much focused on myself, my awakening, and making my own life better, materially and spiritually… But also an awareness that as I heal and evolve, I am adding this knowledge of how to do so to the collective (the 100th monkey effect). And I do feel that much of the toxicity in the spiritual community is due to people not looking inwards enough. A lot of people trying to heal other people, to compensate for the fact that they aren’t healed themselves. And a lot of people projecting their own shadow onto others and trying to fight monsters in the world, when the real monsters are within.
But, I don’t know. If we do indeed live in a holographic Universe where we are all just different aspects of the same consciousness playing out roles as separate individuals – is there really a separation between lightwork and darkwork? It seems to me that if they are done right, they are both paths of awakening, which benefits both the individual and the collective. Is the distinction just one of motive?
I look forward to your future posts on this, it’s an interesting topic!
Very thought-provoking comment. It’s still something I’m actively exploring but I’ll give you my thoughts as they are.
I do believe it matters. Yes I think LHP and RHP in some senses are closely aligned. But I believe that as you walk down each path, there is a growing difference.
RHP to me will gradually see the disincorporating of one’s center of power. It’s focused on expansion, on enforcing the whole over the self.
Meanwhile the LHP is focused on the strengthening of the center of power, to the point where that center of power is able to create just about any change in the local universe. It’s focused on contraction, on the self over the whole.
I think that both will contribute much to the overall health of the collective unconscious, but that their ends are still different.
For an extreme on the RHP end, see some of the enlightened masters who have surrendered to such an extent that they refuse to do anything for themselves, sometimes even to feed themselves. Anandamayi Ma is a great example of this. She literally had no will of her own.
The RHP focuses on the giving up of desire, the letting go of preferences, of attachments, etc. Whereas the LHP encourages those desires.
Part of my study is in seeing exactly where the LHP leads. I think there are not too many well-known examples in the world today, so it’s my personal goal to take this path as far as it will go and to see where I end up.
Also, not sure if you’re familiar with the 9th Dimensional Pleaiadean Collective, but they have a recent video which I think fits in well with what you’ve written about here. It’s from a lightworker perspective, but essentially it’s about not engaging in the battle against contrast, but transcending it.

Yay, Brandon, I’m so happy to see you posting here again! 🙂
This was quite a timely reminder for me and I bet for many other people as well. Currently there seems to be a flood of negativity and it is so easy to get sucked in if one isn’t aware enough. On a bright side, I’ve found that I’m much less reactive than ever before. You know, even ten years ago I used to be extremely reactive and as a result my own energy was generally low for most of the time. I think my own emotional immaturity played a part in that but I also had some beliefs that kept me stuck in that vicious cycle of emotionally reacting and feeling ill. First: I thought it was my “responsibility” to show that I care by reacting strongly to everything, in particular to things that I found somehow “wrong” or “immoral”. Second: I had this belief that if I just walk away from a conversation that doesn’t serve me, it means I’m not intelligent or brave enough to stand my ground. One thing that has helped me in releasing this very belief is that I’ve noticed there’s much trolling and intentional misinterpretation present today and that one simply cannot win if they just keep on arguing with people who employ these tactics.
Even though I’m much more stable nowadays, I’ve had to give myself permission to walk away from conversations, news headlines, online forums and such which mainly sustain the reactivity. Some people have taken it very personally and have been offended as a consequence, but I am not responsible for their emotions or their energy. Selfishness is the most underrated virtue in this world and it has been given a bad name because people as a whole don’t want to take responsibility but instead prefer others to “make them happy” or whatever their desire is. And yes, I’ve been guilty of it too, still am from time to time, but I’ve noticed cultivating my own “selfishness” (or whatever you prefer to call it) is very beneficial in taking control of my own reality.
Anyway, thanks for a very thought-provoking post!
Thanks for your comment! I agree that selfishness is underrated. And all too often inaction is now somehow seen as siding with the wrong side or criticized as not doing enough, whatever that means.
I remember some months ago a friend on Facebook posted that if everyone wasn’t writing about the issue of the day on their FB newsfeed, then they were horrible, selfish people. I asked her why she wasn’t writing about the people starving in Africa, or people displaced by war, or any of the other thousands of wrongs in the world we could be focusing on at any given time. Why was her “wrong” the only valid one, and the one everyone should be focused on?
It obviously doesn’t make sense. Which is why I’d rather just stay out of it. ☺️ But I admit to being a bit of a troll at times and enjoy stirring up people’s reactions: it’s a habit I’m trying to overcome.
