Every day, we are exposed to various stimuli from external reality which makes us react. We might see our bank balance and get a bit anxious, or see a coworker we don’t like and feel annoyance. We might even get overwhelmed at work and become stressed.
There is a state I’ve talked about quite frequently, which I call the Zero State. The Zero State is essentially your point of equilibrium: that point at which you are centered—you have no emotional reaction either positive or negative. It’s a point of stillness and silence.
And I believe we must always start at Zero, and keep resetting ourselves to Zero whenever we notice that our equilibrium has been disrupted.
Why? Because this disequilibration weakens us. When we are thrown off kilter by life, we are no longer in the optimal position to apply our will to create change. The Zero State is when we are at our most powerful. You cannot create when you are stressed, anxious, annoyed, etc—or at least you can’t create anything positive.
So check in on yourself throughout the day. Ask yourself, “Am I at Zero? Am I at that place of stillness and equilibrium, or do I feel off-center?” Then do your best to bring yourself back to Zero as needed.
And of course I suggest doing the same in the morning, to start your entire day at Zero. It’s a lot easier to stay there if you reach that state first thing in the morning.
If you need help with reaching Zero and creating what you want in life, I am opening up my coaching to new clients again. To mark this change, I’m offering half-off your first session with me. That’s just $87.50 for a one-hour session over Zoom.
