It’s not often that I react directly to another blog post. Usually I more or less stay in my own lane doing my own thing, but in this case I couldn’t help but to respond.
There’s another LOA coach who recently released a post called Are You a Leader of the Light?
And if someone wants to call themselves a leader of the light, I have no problem with that. I won’t resonate with them, but everyone’s on their path.
But I do have an issue with common misconceptions of darkness that are put out there again and again.
Recall my post, I am a Darkworker where I contrasted the common use of “lightworker” and what it would mean to be a darkworker. I truly believe that the dark is a path that is so commonly ignored and even vilified, but yet contains the key to massive power.
Let’s see what she had to say about leaders of the dark:
When I say “the dark”, I’m not talking about evil. It’s more of a term of polarity, like when a magnet has a positive or negative side. You don’t judge the negative side of the magnet as worse in some way than the positive side, right? But the dark has certain characteristics.
So far so good, and actually pretty reasonable as it goes. But then…
The dark resists change. It’s a dense, heavy energy that just wants to stay put where it is.
The dark is afraid – afraid of change, afraid of failure, and very afraid of losing control. Most of the leaders and world governments as well as the biggest corporations are still mired heavily in dark energy.
She goes on and on from there but you can see the rest in the post I linked.
The above is categorically untrue. The dark has nothing to do with those who are ruled by fear. Fear is a weakness that keeps people from tapping into their own power. Indeed, fear is our greatest enemy.
It also is far from afraid of change. In fact the dark is the most “disruptive” energy—and by disruptive I mean disruptive of the status quo. It seeks out what people hold most sacred, and rebels against that.
From my perspective it’s the opposite. Light is the stagnating force. It’s been religion that has touted light and love for millennia and yet resulted in division and hatred. The dark has been the force of change—of progress and true power.
You see, there is something people often miss. She gives a metaphor about how the light floods into the dark. Allow me to quote:
You see, the dark isn’t actually very powerful. When you open a door from a dark room to a light hallway, the dark doesn’t spill out into the light hallway. The light from the hallway spills into the dark room. The dark’s only weapon is fear – if we let it tell us scary stories, and we buy into those stories, we won’t open the door to the light hallway. We won’t let the light in.
That may be true—I mean the part about the light coming into the dark room, not the part about the scary stories. But here’s the thing: light is limited. Dark is not.
One day, that metaphorical lightbulb will burn out. And guess what will be left? Darkness.
And no matter how powerful the light source, it only goes so far. And guess what’s beyond the edge of that light? The darkness.
Even the Sun only shines so far. And guess what is beyond its reach? Darkness.
Light is temporal, transient. Darkness is eternal. It may be easily covered up when you turn on the light, but it is patient. One day, it will prevail. One day, the light will go out.
There was a time when the light ddid not exist. But there was never a time when darkness did not exist. It is eternal.
One day the light will be no more. But the darkness will exist for aeons thereafter. It cannot die. It is the only thing in this universe that is truly immortal.
So now tell me who has the true power? From the dark’s perspective, the light is but a speck in the vastness of infinity.
As she said, light and dark are two sides of the same coin. They are both valid paths. However these are the differences I see:
The light is about sacrifice, union, self-diminishment, following a higher will, doing what is for the good of all.
The dark is about freedom, individuality, self-affirmation and empowerment, change, following one’s own will and doing what is for the good of oneself.
Essentially, the light is about the other (including sometimes God), and the dark is about the self (and the self as a God).
Is there morality on the side of the dark? No, because each person is responsible for themselves. Will some lie and cheat as she goes on to suggest? Yes, but so do those in the light. But not all, or even most, are like that. Most go on to increase their own power and create their own lives, without any desire to take advantage of someone else.
As a leader of the dark, my own goal is to increase my power and freedom, continue to create my life how I want it to be, and share the principles of darkness with others to awaken them to the power I have seen for myself.
I’ve said before, it’d be far easier for me to follow the LOA crowd and just write about the regular LOA advice you’ve seen from a hundred other sources. Visualize, affirm, think positive, believe in your goal: all the stuff you’ve already tried and hasn’t worked. But at least my message would be more palatable.
But I found something else that works far more, which has been the result of over 4 years of seeking and experimenting. I’ve struggled, I’ve had my successes and failures, and in those I’ve come to see the principles that underlie the true powers of creation.
And I see that most people are powerless, even those touting the LOA. I see that most live ordinary lives while having extraordinary dreams. I see that most people live on hope, but that hope is rarely realized.
So, I want to give what works, even if fewer people can tolerate the message.
I am a leader of the dark. It’s the path I have chosen.
I do not ask you to choose. One day you will—you must—but it doesn’t need to be today. But I wanted to give a counterpoint to the light’s perspective.
However, I’d Love to hear your thoughts in the comments. What do you resonate with the most? Or do you not know yet? Let me know.

Definitely Darkness
You should write more about darkness it’s time to reveal the beauty of the path
Powerful post, but.
I can feel the energy you were in when writing this article, and I can feel the energy of the post in which you were writing about effortless manifesting. I might sense a bit of polarity between them. My question to you is: How could one exist without the other? Could you even call it darkness if you never experienced the light? In my opinion, they are equally powerful and equally important in the wheel. What do you think?
Hi Anze,
Yes you are right that there is a different energy about this one. This post was from a while ago and I have balanced out my views since then. I agree that you need a balance between light and dark.
I’m doing a class pretty soon that talks about this balance… you can check it out here: Creating from Non-Doing
Also some of my more recent posts discuss my current way of seeing things. For example this one: Where Does Happiness Come From?
Glad to have you on the blog!
