There’s this horrible idea out there that desire is the root of all suffering, and to be enlightened is to give up all desire.
Obviously I don’t believe that is really true.
But still, it seems there is this conflict between desire and spiritual evolution. In fact, people who identify themselves as being on the “right-hand path” often say they will not perform magick for any material purpose, because it’s not spiritual.
Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. Materiality is extremely spiritual. To think otherwise is a holdover from Gnostic beliefs that said the material world is evil, and only the soul is pure and spiritual.
But it simply is not true.
You can have what you want, and you can be enlightened.
That is, if there is even any meaning to this word “enlightenment”. Let’s instead call it simply, happiness.
You can have everything you want, and be happy, spiritual, peaceful, joyful, and all the rest.
You can have your cake and eat it, too. There’s no either-or.
I’ll be discussing a bit about enlightenment and how it relates to desire in the upcoming Circle of Darkness newsletter, which will be coming out soon.
I think you’ll like my definition of enlightenment. Plus I define desire in a way that you’ve probably never thought of before.
I’d love to send you the newsletter when it comes out. Just click below to sign up for the Circle of Darkness. I’ve also just added tons of other bonuses and extra features to this membership, so go check it out!
