If You Want It, You Can’t Have It

There’s an almost cruel truth about the way the law of attraction works:

What you want, you can’t have.

No, you didn’t misread that. What you want, you can’t have.

If you look to your past, you’ll see that it’s true. Those things you wanted the most, that you were the most desperate for, rarely actually came to you, or were very difficult to obtain if so.

That’s why it’s never as simple as saying, “I want a million dollars,” and the Universe delivering it to you.

Now I do think some LOA teachers go too far with this. I’ve heard some teachers say you should get to the point of not caring either way.

But really? I think this would be impossible.

But you do have to remove the egoic neediness out of it.

What most people don’t realize is that there’s a difference between wanting, and will.

Wanting is an egoic action, and leads only to lack.

Will, though, comes from the soul, and can never be erased.

No matter how much I let go and release, I can never erase my will to teach people how to create their own reality.

There was a point, years ago, where I misunderstood this point and really tried to eradicate all desires.

And I became depressed, because I was just repressing my innate will, thinking that it was wrong.

The goal of releasing is not to make you totally indifferent to the world. It’s to free you to follow your natural path, like a river flowing naturally and effortlessly downstream.

You can manifest your will. You cannot manifest your wants.

A want could very potentially have will behind it, but you just have to remove the egoic component.

For example:

• Want: “I want more money”
• Will: “It is my will to have abundance.”

Remove the want, and either the desire disappears altogether if it was only based on egoic insecurity, or the will behind it is revealed.

Either way, you’re free.

If this was taught to those using various releasing methods, I think there’d be far less confusion than there currently is.
