I noticed something interesting recently. Elinara and I have been watching the series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. We finished that on Saturday ?, but yesterday just started watching the series Lucifer.
What did I notice?
Well it was in a conversation with my mother yesterday when I said we were thinking of watching this show Lucifer. She suddenly burst out with enthusiasm, telling us how much she loved that show. She went on and on about things that happened in the show, and ended with: “I love Lucifer!”
That took me aback. I found it pretty hilarious to be honest. She’s no Satanist, obviously—she’s a lukewarm Christian if anything. So it momentarily surprised me to hear that coming out of her mouth. She generally hates all things dark.
Then I remembered something else. I had been reading some articles on the new Sabrina show, and more than one article used phrases such as, “Praise Satan!” That phrase had been used quite a bit on the show, so the article was just imitating that, but it was still pretty surprising.
So what am I saying?
I’m noticing how “normal” dark things are becoming, especially Satan and demons. I’ve read quite a few books recently that portray demons in a positive light.
It shows how weak the hold of Old Aeon religions is becoming. I doubt even a few decades ago, anyone mainstream would say “Praise Satan!” or “I love Lucifer!”
I think the trend of this New Aeon (see episode 18 of the podcast if you don’t know what I’m talking about) is trending towards darkness.
Not to say the light will be diminished. I think a balance of light and dark is important, for various reasons. But the dark has almost entirely been ignored up until recent decades. And now, finally, it’s being more accepted in the mainstream. This, to me, reflects a shift of consciousness, one that I think will be positive.
I plan on doing an upcoming podcast episode on this topic, but thought I’d put it out there now as well. I’d love to hear your thoughts so feel free to comment below and let me know.
Speaking of darkness, I’ve recently made two changes to my Circle of Darkness newsletter, which I think will make it more available to more people.
Firstly, I’m now offering a digital format for the newsletters. That means you no longer have to receive it in print. If you want the digital format, just specify “digital” for newsletter format when signing up.
I’m also offering each of the past archived issues for purchase and immediate download, even if you’re not a member of the Circle of Darkness.
