Are you stressed? I’m guessing you probably have some stress in some part of your life, as almost everyone does. Whether it’s at work, in your relationship, with your financial situation, or something else entirely, stress is a common experience.
Where does this stress come from? I mean, what is the cause and source of it?
It is easy to blame the physical situation. You’re stressed because of the demands placed on you at work, or because of your low bank balance, etc.
But physical circumstances are never the cause of stress..
Stress always comes from our own stories about what is and what should be.
Take a look at your own life and the situations that feel the most stressful. Is it stressful because of the apparent situation itself, or because of the beliefs and fears you have about that situation?
Really look at it factually. Would it be possible for someone else to be in this same situation and not be stressed? If so, then it stems from the mind.
I’ve begun to realize that all stress is mind-created. No matter how real it seems, it all inevitably comes from the mind.
I believed that my job was stressful (sometimes I still do). But then I realized that the stress was just my fear of not measuring up—of not doing well enough. Someone just got fired for their skills not measuring up. The mind says, “That could’ve been me.”
But that’s just a story. Without that story, there’s no stress.
So how do you get rid of the stress? You let it go. You stop resisting life, including the stress. You allow it all to be.
