In yesterday’s post, I said something pretty controversial: you cannot control the world.
I wanted it to get a reaction from you, and it did. I got a rather impassioned email from someone asking how this could possibly be true when we are black magicians and are supposed to be the gods of our own reality. Was I changing things? Was I somehow going nuts?
Well not at all, at least not in my opinion. ?
When I said you cannot control the world, that comes with some caveats.
Of course, you could take massive action as some teachers suggest. This may or may not change the condition, but is likely to be hard work and rather stressful.
You could also use what I’m calling “hard black magick” to work only on changing the external conditions—and there, too, you might be successful.
So you might think, “Great! Give me the most direct actions, or the most powerful black magick spells, to change what I want to change!”
But see this is the problem. You think the conditions have the power to make you happy.
Shuffling around physical manifestations like this is sort of like just having the picture of some food, and thinking that getting a nicer picture, or a picture of different food, will satiate your hunger. It’s still just a picture, and simply can’t do what you’re wanting it to do.
Could I teach you how to get nicer pictures of more appetizing food? Sure, but I’d in a sense be lying to you, because I know that something is off at the root of this whole endeavor.
I know it seems like if you had the thing, you’d in fact be satisfied. But I’ve experienced this enough times in my own life, and seen it in my clients’ lives, to tell you without a doubt that this isn’t true.
And in fact that if you set out trying to get that “thing” with this misconception in mind, you’re going to be a lot less likely to get it anyway.
No one ever seems to quite believe me on this. It’s something that you almost have to gain with experience. I’ve bashed my head against many brick walls trying to convince clients of this truth.
But you want what you want. And I can’t fault you for that: you should want what you want. But you have the mistaken notion that getting it, without first feeling better, will somehow fix everything.
So I invite you simply to look at your past. Look at all the things you have gotten, whether deliberately or otherwise. I’m betting that plenty of those things, you believed would be the end of your unhappiness forever. And yet, were they?
For today I just want you to ponder this subject. Tomorrow I’ll talk to you about what I call “soft black magick”. I do have a podcast discussing this exact topic in a few weeks, but I’ll at least give you a preview.
If you want to find out how to achieve true happiness, and get the things you want, then I invite you to sign up for my upcoming course, 81 Days to Effortlessness. In truth, sign-ups aren’t open yet, but if you express your interest now, I’ll give you an early bird discount for when I am accepting sign-ups. ? Just send me an email and let me know you’re interested!
