This week is going to be a bit different.
I was inspired to do what I’m calling my 7 day effortlessness challenge, and I’ll tell you about the results as I experience them.
And, perhaps, you may feel inspired to join me in this challenge. And if so, I’d love for you to share your results with me as well, either on the blog or via email.
Alternatively, you can share your experience on Twitter and tag it #effortlessnesschallenge, and I’ll share some of my own experiences on my Twitter as well at @thedarkascent.
So what inspired me to this effortlessness challenge?
Many things, but essentially I had realized that I was just trying too hard in life. Will is important, but I was going too far toward that extreme, and it was causing stress and burnout as a result.
In any manifestation, both will and effortlessness are important, as I discuss in the first issue of the Circle of Darkness Newsletter. But it is a careful balance, and if you get this balance wrong, then the whole system can become off-kilter.
I’d say the proper balance is about 99% effortlessness with about 1% will. I’ve been emphasizing will because a lot of people have not used this element at all, but it also must not be overused.
Therefore, to restore this balance, I am focusing on effortlessness for this entire week.
Specifically, this means focusing on what feels effortless—focusing on happiness, joy, relaxation, etc. This means that if I notice myself striving or trying too hard, or attempting to resolve some problem with fear-based action, I take a step back and realign my energy first, and allow all of the answers and solutions to simply fall in place, like what I discussed in episode #4 of the Dark Ascent Podcast.
I already did begin this focus a few days ago, and the results already have been astounding. I’ve felt far more at peace, in the flow, and knowing that better experiences are coming. It’s what inspired me to this challenge in the first place.
The most important thing here is to not have any expectations. I’m not doing this to get any result, or to make anything happen. I’m just doing it to make my life more effortless and more in flow.
This may not seem very black magicky, but I think quite the opposite is true. Any true magician knows when to push, and when to allow. All pushing, all force, never works.
So now how about you? Will you join me in this challenge? Let me know!
