Before coming into black magick fully, I saw a propensity in law of attraction circles to depersonalize all the forces of the Universe. They would say that everything is conscious, but these forces are purely mechanical: there is no one managing the laws, as it were.
And it really is a good point. And I see why they do it: most people are coming out of religions where they think the whole Universe is managed by some jealous god who will judge them for their desires.
But I think they go too far in the other direction.
Because when you depersonalize the Universe, you lose respect for the power and potency it contains.
Power is sometimes—even often—dangerous, if mishandled.
You have channeled beings like Abraham saying the whole Universe is safe, there is nothing to worry about, it’s all on your side. And it’s comforting, but it also causes you to to believe that the whole Universe, and everything in it, will always support you. This simply isn’t true.
About eight years ago I first awakened my Kundalini. I thought I could handle it—I thought it was no problem at all. I was wrong.
It threw my life into turmoil for about two years. And I mean absolute chaos. It almost broke up my marriage. It wasn’t safe. That doesn’t mean it’s evil or wrong to work with, just not inherently safe if you don’t know what you’re doing.
When using black magick, you are coming into contact with real, conscious, intelligent forces. Not just conscious like, “the whole Universe is conscious” in a sort of impersonal way, but actual conscious beings that have their own desires and motivations. The gods are real, angels and demons are real, and they aren’t all just lining up to help you get all your dreams. Some might be, but not all.
I’m not trying to take a fear-based approach, at all. But it’s like if you were about to travel to a foreign country. If you go in with rose-tinted glasses, you could easily get taken advantage of, pickpocketed, or worse. But if you go in prepared, with due caution, having listened to the advice of those who have gone before you, then you’ll be far more prepared.
As a fledgling black magician, there are plenty of traps you can fall into. There are beings who would be happy to feed off of your power.
That doesn’t mean you should slam the door on your new power and go back to seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses. These powers were always there, it’s just now you will become more aware of them. Your denial won’t make them go away.
In my upcoming Circle of Darkness Newsletter, I’ll show you how to avoid these traps and travel in the realms of black magick confidently.
For most of my years exploring various spiritual paths, I wish I had had someone to show me the way—to show me how to avoid the pitfalls I fell into. I didn’t, and so I fell into quite a few.
