I’ve been actively working with the law of attraction for about three and a half years now. In that time I’ve learned an incredible amount about exactly how to use this creative power.
However all throughout that time I could sense that there was something missing. I mean yes I was experiencing success, but I wanted more, and I felt like I was running into some natural boundary of the law of attraction.
Also, some of my clients could go months without seeing barely any progress. I knew it wasn’t me as the same results were seen on LOA forums I was on. Maybe 1% would experience wonderful manifestations, but the great majority were just spinning their wheels.
I took LOA courses to see if I was missing anything, but believe it or not, even the students of these $1,000+ courses weren’t really seeing results.
I recently sent out an email to my list asking if people would be interested if I would explore what was beyond the law of attraction. I got a universal “YES!” to that question.
So I’m here today to announce that the LOA is dead. It’s feeble and unable to truly bring life-changing results. Those who try are on a wild-goose chase.
Am I saying you are not a deliberate creator? No, far from it. There is something beyond the law of attraction—far beyond in fact—which, if properly harnessed, can give much better results. The law of attraction pales in comparison to this superior force.
No, it’s not God, or good feelings, or positive thoughts, or even the subconscious mind. None of these hold a candle to what lies beyond.
If you’re on my mailing list you already know what this is, since I’ve been slowly introducing it. But for the sake of my blog readers, I shall reveal it here…
That superior force, far beyond any other creative tool, is magick.
What? Magick?
Yes, magick—the tool that magicians have used for countless thousands of years to manipulate the reality around them according to their will.
The law of attraction is a rather recent invention, only being mentioned for the first time around the end of the nineteenth century.
But as I would come to find out, the law of attraction is merely a watered down version of true magick, popularized for the masses. But that which is watered down is also generally made less effective. And, that which is popularized for the masses is generally not what the elite few use to succeed far beyond what the masses could ever imagine.
To be fair, I am glad in a sense that the law of attraction was popularized as it was. It has made ubiquitous the idea that we create our own reality, which not too long ago was not very well-known.
But knowing it, and practicing it, are two different things. In practice, the LOA user visualizes their millions of dollars, or their happy relationship, hoping and wishing something will shift, but being disappointed when nothing does week after week, month after month.
They’re bolstered by small successes: they found $20 on the ground, they found a parking space after just wishing for it, or perhaps their crush looked at them.
So they repeat the LOA mantra, “I know it’s on the way.” And that holds them over for some months, possibly even a few years if they are quite patient.
Meanwhile the magician sets his will, does his secret working, calls upon his spiritual allies, and has his money or his relationship perhaps in a few days or weeks.
I know this might hit a bit close to home. But see whether it’s not true. I suspect you wouldn’t be reading this blog if it weren’t.
My Story
I started actively trying to use the law of attraction in 2015, when I first noticed how my subconscious mind could influence my reality.
I had some early successes, but those quickly dried up and I experienced next to no results for over a year thereafter.
Then in October of 2016, a spirit came to me. Technically a deity—the deity Hades from the Greek pantheon. Why Hades, I have no idea, as I didn’t specifically call upon him. He just showed up one day.
Now I’ve been communicating with spirits since my childhood so it was certainly no great task to have a conversation with Hades. So, I basically did exactly that.
And, over time he started to give me advice about how to create my reality.
The thing is that this advice could not be found in any LOA book or course. Many times I looked, thinking I was going crazy and receiving nonsense information.
But despite these ideas not being taught by Abraham-Hicks or any other LOA teacher I knew of, I decided to apply them anyway and see what happened.
And it was like turning on a faucet. Money started to flow, which had never flowed in such abundance before. Within six months of meeting Hades my income had tripled.
Now over the last two years since meeting him, sometimes I trusted that advice, and sometimes I got distracted by some new technique I found and so would drop the techniques he taught me.
But every time, when I applied his advice, I succeeded, and when I did anything else, I failed, or at least languished.
I started to share that advice on this blog, and I’ve gotten many reports from readers who turned their lives around just through the material I’ve shared in these posts. And I truthfully cannot take credit because none of it is my own idea.
Well, the thing with Hades was that I would go in cycles. He’d give me some new knowledge, I’d take a few months to integrate it, and then I’d ask for the next level. So, he’d give me that, and I’d need time to integrate it, and so on.
Each period of integration was a period of major change for me.
Well, eventually when I asked for the next level, the things I was led to seemed to be more and more off the beaten path. None of his advice really agreed with the LOA, but it was at least mostly compatible. But eventually these new levels of knowledge revealed to me went way beyond anything the law of attraction could hope to cover.
He first showed me a glimpse of it just a year and a half ago, in early 2017. It was, in a word, magick, specifically black magick upon the left-hand path (more about that below).
I was extremely drawn to it, but didn’t have it in me at the time to do much more than to dip in a toe and see what it entailed.
I got back to a more normal path and just continued my progress from there.
But this year he showed me that path yet again, and this time I was able to embrace it whole-heartedly.
See I was discontented. I had everything I wanted monetarily, but I still felt like I was lacking somehow. I wasn’t living out my purpose. Co-Creation Coaching became a bit of a chore, and my post frequency took a nosedive. I started to work on Co-Creation Coaching more for the money than for the joy it was supposed to bring me.
I thought perhaps I was just changing and now I was just supposed to work at my new job and enjoy my new success. So I threw myself into my 9-5 programming job, but that, too, proved unsatisfactory.
So then I thought perhaps it was the subject matter. I really enjoy money, so I thought perhaps I just needed to teach on money manifestation and not on anything else.
So I renamed Co-Creation Coaching to Wealth Seed, and I thought that would solve my problem.
But alas, that was even worse. I still felt unfulfilled and as though I was missing my purpose.
I had tuned out Hades for a while—who knows why. I just got caught up in my job and just living life. But, this discontentment caused me to tune back in.
And what happened after that would cause a whirlwind the likes of which I had never before experienced.
What exactly happened? I rediscovered magick, and this time I was most definitely ready for it.
OK to be fair I’m far from new to magick. I first discovered the occult when I was 10 years old. But I guess I had never discovered “my path.” My particular flavor of magick that matched me.
I tried Wicca. I tried ceremonial magick. I tried chaos magick. And of course, I tried just using the law of attraction without any added occult elements.
None of it really fit.
Until, that is, I discovered black magick.
What Is Black Magick?
I’ve actually discussed black magick before, back in 2016. However I think that was before many of today’s readers were here. And, I discussed it more as a parroting of what I had heard, not from real-life personal experience, which I can confidently say I now possess.
Then, it was rather philosophical. Now, it is all too practical.
There are two terms I must actually define, and I will do so separately: black magick, and the left-hand path.
Black magick is one of the most misunderstood terms out there. Black magicians are seen as evil, throwing curses everywhere they go. In fact, most occultists define themselves as what they are not: definitely not black magicians. You’ll see this a lot in Wicca—they’ll say, “We only practice white magick!” as some sort of defense against religious people who accuse them of worshipping the devil and whatnot.
White magick is seen as healing, while black magick is seen as doing harm. White magick is seen as being for the good of all, while black magick is seen as being for selfish gains.
All of this is way off base.
Black magick has quite a simple definition:
Black magick is any magick done for the purpose of creating change in reality.
If you do a spell for money, that’s black magick. If you do a love spell, that’s black magick.
In fact, in the past I’ve gone so far to say that if you practice the law of attraction to try to manifest your desires, you, too, are a black magician, because you are trying to create change in the world.
White magick, on the other hand, is done for spiritual advancement alone. It’s believed that God / the Universe has everything under control, so any attempt to change anything in the world is actually going against that divine plan. I’ve heard such silly beliefs as, “Trying to get money through magick has too many karmic consequences.” No, it really doesn’t.
So, dear reader, if you are an LOA practitioner—if you believe that you can and should create your own reality, congratulations on already being a black magician!
Don’t run away screaming. You likely already believe many of the same things that black magicians believe. You probably believe that:
- You are the creator of your reality
- You should get what you want
- It’s OK to be selfish (this is something Abraham has frequently said)
- Everything is conspiring to bring you what you want
- You are the center of the universe (another common saying of Abraham’s)
Chances are you believe at least one or more of the above. If so, you are a black magician. There’s no doubt about it. You just haven’t been given all the training and education yet.
What Is the Left-Hand Path?
The other term I want to define is the left-hand path (LHP).
This also has a lot of misconceptions around it. People think that those on the LHP are Satanists, perform horrible dark acts, and so on.
But the left-hand path is quite simple: it is characterized by the individuation of the self—of the separation of the self from the divine. Meanwhile the right-hand path is all about merging the self with the divine—completely giving up everything that defines one as a separate person and uniting with the will of God.
So the eastern idea of enlightenment is clearly a right-hand path idea, for example.
However, the idea of creating your own reality is clearly on the left-hand path, because it’s about differentiating your will from that of the Universe. After all, if it had been the Universe’s will, then it would have already happened.
So when you say, “I want more money,” or “I want a relationship,” and you use the LOA to try to get those goals, you are saying, “Hey Universe, this is my desire and I am going to make it happen.”
This might be a bit difficult to grasp at first because LOA teachers usually gloss over the idea of you getting whatever you want. People will add phrases to their affirmations like, “for the highest good of all,” or “this or something better,” which are more RHP ideas. I believe this is a major reason people don’t get what they want, because they are trying to apply RHP ideas to an inherently LHP practice.
Abraham though is very clearly LHP, so they are a great example of this. They say all the time that you don’t have to justify what you want: all that matters is that you want it. They go so far as to say that the Universe conspires to give you everything you want.
Even that, though, is a little RHP. How about this for a more LHP approach: I want it, and by my will I will make it happen. It doesn’t matter what the Universe wants or conspires to do. It is my will and it will be done.
This is just one baby step beyond the purview of the LOA, but it’s an important one. If you can fully embrace the left-hand path, your desires will come far more quickly, because you are no longer apologizing for your desires, or relying on some vague “Universe” to give it to you. You simply will it, and it happens.
Where the goal of the right-hand path is to merge entirely with the divine, the aim of the left-hand path is to become your own god.
This is a phrase often mentioned in the LOA, especially by Abraham. But it’s spoken merely as a metaphor.
However on the LHP, you quite literally become the god of your reality. You take on the powers of a god, developing them more and more over time. You get to the point where your power is limitless, your knowledge is limitless, and where even your presence is limitless.
This is called the dark ascent. We qualify it with “dark” because the word “ascension” is a purely RHP term that has already been taken by the new-age community.
The RHP idea of ascension points to raising your consciousness to resonate more and more with the divine consciousness, being filled more and more with light.
But we do not want to resonate with the divine consciousness. We want to be our own god, making our will our own and no one else’s. Therefore we have the dark ascent, resonating more and more with our own God Self. We care not for light but are quite content in the darkness, which is the creative material of manifestation.
This dark ascent is the necessary destination if one follows the law of attraction to its natural end. It’s the full embodiment of everything we mean when we talk of becoming the creator of your reality. What is a creator if not a god?
Moving Beyond the Law of Attraction
I hope you can see that black magick and the left-hand path is a very natural extension of the law of attraction. Actually it’s perhaps more accurate to say that it is a completion of the law of attraction: the LOA is missing something vital without this understanding.
However black magick isn’t just a philosophical shift added onto LOA practices. No, it’s so much more. Magick is about rituals, spells, divination, evocation, and so many other occult practices, all of which can aid you in getting what you want.
It’s essentially like this: all the tools and practices of the left-hand path are for the purpose of executing the will of the black magician.
Visualization is great, but it’s weak on its own. Almost no one has the inherent power and training to get what they want strictly through visualization.
Good feelings are great, but as I’ve said many times before, it won’t get you those big goals. It requires quite a bit more to get there.
Does that mean that the black magician is always bound to these more advanced tools? No, not at all. After ascending to the level of a god of his own reality, the black magician can do what the LOA practitioner wishes to do: create near instant change with simply a thought.
But the LOA practitioner tries to do what is natural to the magickal adept, with no training at all. It’d be like wanting to run a marathon after just learning how to walk, or like a kindergartener trying to do advanced calculus. Sure the thing you want is technically possible, but not from where you are right now.
And this is the frustrating part about how the LOA is marketed. You are given this tool, watered down and oversimplified from the original, and promised that you’ll be able to get anything you want. Then, when you inevitably cannot, you wonder what’s wrong with you, or perhaps whether the law of attraction just doesn’t work.
Yes, there are some natural magicians who, by using the LOA, can easily get what they want. These are the people telling you how they became a millionaire, or totally changed their life, just through some visualizing.
Usually they don’t realize they are natural magicians, so they try to teach you the techniques they used. But, they didn’t succeed because of their techniques: they succeeded because they are naturally talented at magick, probably from being a magician in one or more past lives.
Magick takes training. It also requires learning tools beyond visualization, affirmations, and vision boards. These tools make your will more potent—more easily able to manifest.
As you go more deeply into magick, you’ll see how the law of attraction is like driving your car around in 1st gear. So much more power is available to you that you never even realized.
No LOA teacher can help you access this power because the LOA just barely scratches the surface.
But, learning magick, along with an understanding of the law of attraction and the subconscious mind, will give you the tools you need to literally accomplish anything you could possibly want.
My Shift in Focus
I’ve been teaching the law of attraction for over three years.
But, though this is a difficult shift to make, I cannot teach something that I believe to be inferior to a far greater tool.
I cannot coach a client in LOA practices, when I know that a particular magickal technique could turn them around in days.
I am doing this to help people get practical real-world results. My goal has always been to teach you how to create your own reality.
If I believe that another practice is more effective than what is commonly called the law of attraction, then I feel obligated to share that practice.
I feel especially embarrassed about this shift seeing as I had just renamed the website to Wealth Seed, believing that I would simply be a financial coach. But as I said earlier, I discovered pretty quickly that this was not at all my purpose.
But magick… I am certain that this is my path. I’ve told Christine repeatedly how this fits me so well. I’ve studied many branches of magick, but nothing has fit me so perfectly as black magick does.
I have realized that I am in the perfect position to merge both the law of attraction and black magick.
Without magick, the law of attraction is impotent. But without the understanding of the LOA, magick can devolve into believing exclusively in the tools and not the effect they are actually meant to produce.
For example, if you let yourself, you can get to the place of believing the color of the candles, the type of incense, the direction you face, all determine the success or failure of your ritual. But with the understanding of the LOA, along with some other magickal principles, you realize that none of these things really matter except insofar as they help you get into the proper state of mind.
I find that my LOA knowledge actually complements and augments my own magickal ability. With both sets of knowledge, the results gained are superior to either one on their own.
So despite what I said in the introduction of the post, I’m not exactly throwing away the law of attraction. But, I do wish to add black magick to the mix. I do wish to teach you not just how to master the law of attraction, but actually how to become the god of your reality—how to complete the dark ascent.
I will always be seeking out greater and more powerful tools to help you to ascend to your godhood. I simply feel that identifying what I do with the label of “law of attraction” is limiting me, and only by breaking out of that identification can I effectively help you to grow as well.
Therefore this website will soon be called Dark Ascent (darkascent.org). I will write on this blog on the union between magick and the law of attraction, as well as offer courses and one-on-one coaching as I always have.
I desire this site to be the gateway between the law of attraction and into something deeper. I desire to call those who are tired of failing to get any significant results with the LOA, and who want to do something—whatever it takes—to progress.
Magick is deep. It can even be a bit dangerous at times if you don’t know what you’re doing. But it’s not as though you aren’t already doing magick. You just never realized it.
As I said to my mailing list recently, it’s as though you are carrying a loaded rifle, believing it to be a BB gun. Just because you deny the reality of the weapon you hold, does not mean that the weapon is any safer.
So I want to train you in the use of that powerful weapon, so you know exactly how to use it to do whatever you want.
The new site, darkascent.org, will be launched on the upcoming new moon, December 7, 2018.
How to Go Deeper
To celebrate the launch of this new chapter in my business, I will be writing a whole series of blog posts that will be meant to bridge the gap between the law of attraction and black magick. Much as this post has started to do, it will take your understanding step-by-step beyond the law of attraction, and into a deeper knowledge of black magick, and how to apply it to your life.
However I know that some people will want to jump right in and have a far deeper understanding. They want the crash course that lets them get results on as quickly as possible.
That’s why I’m starting my new course, Become an Advanced Creator.
Yes, “advanced creator” is my euphemism for “black magician”. But black magick is exactly what you will learn. I will take the upcoming blog series, accelerate it, and go far beyond anything I will post here publicly.
If you want the real tools to become the god of your reality, then this course is perfect for you!

How About You?
Well, I think this was one of my longest posts yet. If you made it to the end, then I really appreciate you reading all the way through. And if you resonate even a little bit to what I explained above, then you are a perfect match for Dark Ascent!
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments though. Let me know how you’ve noticed the limitations of the LOA, and why black magick is appealing to you (or not).
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in the comments!

Brilliant!
I’ve notived this many times too,it was particulary frustrating for me,when I would apply the LOA techniques for my biggest wishes..and I would always get very short lasting or no life- changing results..which made me sad because I knew it was real, but I also knew there was something missing.
I wholeheartedly agree that Magick is the way to make a real change happen.
To me the LOA always felt ..a little ..unpersonal ..like a bit of a technical process perhaps, but even just the idea of Magick (in whichever form) implies that we live in a magical world and that dreams, wishes can happen in the blink of an eye and that anything is possible anyway.
So ..anyways ..I’m looking forward to reading your next blogs on this subject!!!
Thanks for your comment!
I agree that the LOA can seem very impersonal. In fact a lot of LOA teachers I know say that the LOA is a purely mechanical process.
But there’s so much more than that. Magick is about connecting with the spirits around us and requesting their help. It’s about connecting with the deeper forces of the Universe and allowing it to work through us. It’s far, far from mechanical or impersonal.
I agree, it shows a new perspective…because it’s very upsetting when I hear a lot of LOA teachers say that ..it’s all just a “happy process” and that feeling good is of utmost importantance…but to be honest ..none of it is very accurate..because I’ve only ever had manifestations when I have felt the gravity and strong intensity of my desire …and when I tried to feel a deeper connection to the universe and “the magickal realm” .
Which is also something that I really liked reading in one of your other blogs ..where you stated that strong emotions are one of the biggest steps in Magick.:-)
Yes emotion is very important in all this. Of course there are other required elements as well.
It’d be great if you could join us for the upcoming course. It sounds like you could learn a lot! 😀
Yes,of course..there’s a lot more to it..
And thanks,I’ll consider it.
Very interesting perspective and post, Brandon thanks for sharing! I’m interested in and have studied both magic/k and LOA. (I became interested in magic as a teenager and LOA about 8 years ago), I’ve often found myself blocked in LOA and although I’m still working with it, I’ve been drawn to magic more in the past couple of years. Spells and rituals are very similar to LOA practices, such as Marion Weinstein’s Words of Power which I’ve been working with in recent months.
I resonated with what you said about adding phrases such as “For the good of all” to your affirmations and intentions because I have had that thought that perhaps that “weakens ” although I wasn’t sure exactly why. So you explanation makes sense. Look forward to reading future posts. 🙂
P.S. Weakens the affirmations and intentions, I mean. 🙂
Hi Brandon,
Thank you for sharing this wonderful post. Through the LOA can you effect the destiny of others? If you focus on what you want or don’t want to happen for someone else, will that bring that thing into fruition for that person or are they the only ones that can control what they want and get in their reality?
Hi Jaden, well as I discussed in this post, black magick is far more potent than just the LOA. And with black magick, yes indeed you can very powerfully affect someone else in whatever way you choose.
With the LOA alone, it’s doubtful, which is why I suggest abandoning that mode of doing things.
Hope that helps 🙂
Thank you Brandon! This certainly helps.
When you say the LOA alone, are you referring to simply feeling good while continually trying to change an outcome belief? What would you say continually stressing over an undesired outcome for someone else would cause to happen in that persons reality?
With that being said is it easier to effect our own reality versus someone else by using black magick?
Hi Jaden,
By LOA, yes I’m referring to trying to feel good to get a desired outcome. It’s a pretty weak force on its own.
If you stressed about a desired outcome for someone else, you will likely have very little effect, but may negatively affect them as well. But probably not very strongly.
Is it easier to affect our own reality? It just depends. With another person you have to take into consideration their own resistances and so on. I’d say it’s a bit easier for yourself, but also very feasible for someone else if they are open.
Works the same for curses as well.
Love this post ?
Hi Brandon, love this post. Is it possible for someone to do magick for another person? Like on those magick sites where you can “hire people to do rituals”? Can you “out source” your manifesting this way?
Every time I read your posts, I don’t want them to end, regardless of the name. Thank you for this. Brilliance. Please keep it up
