Sometimes when we are so focused on a goal, we get lost in the wanting of it.
And when that happens, we start to wonder why life is showing us more and more reasons how the goal isn’t working out for us.
But it’s for this very reason: you got so caught up with the wanting, that you forgot to acknowledge what is already great about what you have now.
Gratitude is like a muscle. The more you use it, the easier it gets to use, and the more things you find to be grateful about.
But if you neglect it, it also tends to atrophy from disuse. You find more and more reasons to be discouraged, and the stress builds and builds.
Are things really all that bad? Stop now and find five positive things about your life. Find yet another five positive things about your particular desire, as it stands right now.
Whatever it is you look for, life will give you plenty of evidence. Look for what’s wrong, and you’ll get everything that’s wrong in life. Look for what’s right, and you’ll get more right things to focus on.
Your reality is the sum total of your thinking. If you don’t like what you see, change how you think. It’s really as simple as that.
