Happiness is a choice, not an effect of your experiences. Are you choosing happiness?
Click to tweetPersonally, I always hated when people said that I had to be happy even without my goal. In some way, it felt like giving up: like if I didn’t pin my happiness on my goal, then the Universe wouldn’t really take me seriously.
But, over time, I’ve realized that our goals don’t bring us happiness. They bring us pleasure, but not happiness.
Of course, if your goal is to live your purpose in life, then that will bring you great fulfillment. But even still, you have to be happy before you get that goal.
My personal goal lately has been to be happy, no matter what: to be happy for what I have already, and for the wonderful everyday experiences we often overlook.
i’m far from perfect at it, but it really has allowed me to connect with the Universe on a far deeper level, and notice the signs that the Universe is always sending my way.
Like, how it showed me that I should quit my job. It showed me the signs I needed in order to trust that this was my path.
Happiness is a choice. Are you choosing to be happy today, even if you haven’t gotten your goal yet?
