In this Creators Circle, we talk about how you can ensure that you’re not trying to create from the ego. Creating from the ego will only cause problems, so you want to ensure you are creating from your soul.
Plus, we’ll discuss a powerful NLP technique that can help you facilitate this new understanding.

Transcript
Brandon: Welcome to the “Creators Circle,” #5. We are here, as always, to talk about the law of attraction, answer questions, and talk in general. [laughs] Before I get started, especially for those who are listening to this, if you want to get the transcript for this Creators Circle or join future ones so you can ask questions, there’s a form at the bottom of this post. You can sign up and receive a transcript and get information for connecting in the future. That would be great. I always enjoy these small, close-knit groups. It’s cool. Today I’m actually going to introduce a topic I’ve been thinking about lately. I’ll probably talk about it either in the podcast or the blog post next week. I’m not really sure which. I’m thinking the blog post.
Channeled Advice about Doing
Brandon: I will introduce it a bit now. We’ll go from there. Recently, you guys know I do—I don’t want to call it “channeling.” That sounds weird.
Christine: Oh, but you do. Just say it.
Brandon: Channeling. [laughs]
Justin: I do, too.
Brandon: Channeling, whatever. Recently, especially when I’m working on a big goal, I’ll say, “Hey, tell me what I need to do to get this goal.” I’ll get usually some kind of advice. I always joke. I always get to the next level of law of attraction by asking that question. “Tell me what I need to do.” I’ll realize some new level, something else I was missing that is the next level I need to learn for myself, apply, and then teach others. I’ll talk about that here. For some reason, that word “do”—“What do I need to do?”—triggered something. It triggered and caught my attention or the attention of the being I was talking to. The response I got was, “Who said you needed to do anything?” Wait a second! I want to do some things. I want to make sure I get it. Basically, what I got out of it—and this happens a lot. We have a goal. We say, “What do I need to do to get that goal?” That question—do you think that arises from ego or soul?
Christine: Probably ego.
Justin: Ego, because you assume….Well, it depends on from where you ask it.
Brandon: I’m going to say ego.
Justin: I would say mostly ego.
Brandon: Ego believes in doing.
Justin: Doing. You’ve got to do something.
Brandon: That’s why the response was, “Who said you need to do something?” “Oh. I don’t know.” [laughs] That threw me for a loop. I didn’t tell you this at the time, Christine. We were about to go to bed that night.
Christine: You didn’t tell me anything.
Brandon: This is on Saturday or Sunday. I think Saturday night. We were about to go to bed. I guess that question was before bed. I really pondered this. When I go to sleep, that’s like my thinking time.
Christine: You never let me play with your hair.
Brandon: I need my space. This is my thinking time to go within and parse through what I learned that day, what I’m going to do tomorrow and in the future, things like that. I was thinking about this. What if you don’t need to do anything? I don’t want to be taken the wrong way.
Who Do You Need to Be to Have Your Goal?
Brandon: I’ll explain what I mean in a second—at least the sense of what I got from this response.
Justin: Who do I need to be?
Brandon: That’s actually exactly it! Thank you, Justin! Who do I need to be to get this? It’s not an ego thing. It’s not do, do, do. It’s not what do I have to do to get this goal. It’s not it. It’s not an ego level thing. It’s not something the ego can do. It’s not something you can just act upon and make happen. I don’t know why, but my attention lately has been going. We’ve had the podcast on the core essences.
Christine: We did? Oh, yeah.
Brandon: Living from your core essence.
Christine: That was last week.
Brandon: We had a podcast on karma and past lives. We had a blog post on something about your deepest desires. I don’t remember right now. The purpose of life was our last blog post.
Christine: You’re getting deeper and deeper.
Brandon: We’ve had all these things. My blog post that I’m publishing today (being Tuesday, not when you’re listening to this) was about self-forgiveness. I don’t know what’s going on with my head. [laughs] I’m getting this deeper and deeper focus on soul-level manifestation. I’m not one of those people who say, “You don’t really need the things you want. Drop your desires,” blah blah blah. I’m not saying that. I’m coming at it from a more soul level type thing. The answer was again, “Who said you need to do anything?” “I don’t know.” [laughs] “I just feel like I do.” I thought about it. When resistance comes up, I try to (even though I teach otherwise) fight it sometimes, because it’s a natural response. I try to do something with the resistance.
Don’t Push Against Resistance
Brandon: The response when I channeled this was, “That gives it validation. That gives it validation. When you’re fighting that resistance, that just says to the universe that this is real.” You can’t fight something that’s not real.
Justin: Yes. No, you can’t. I’ve learned to do this: literally think through the words of the resistance and not give them any energy. It’s weird. It’s a weird feeling to try and do it.
Brandon: Let it flow over you.
Justin: I just started doing it. You think through. “I know what you’re going to say. All right, I’m going to think through the words, but there will be no energy.”
Brandon: There’s no reaction.
Justin: Then it just goes on through.
Brandon: That’s what I’ve been working on. The resistance comes up. I say basically, “I don’t need to give this my attention. I don’t need to do anything about this.” The ego says, “Here’s this threat. What if this doesn’t happen?” I won’t say what it was here, but I was afraid of something not happening that I really wanted to happen.
Christine: I think I know what it is.
Brandon: You do. I kept saying, “What if it doesn’t happen?” I knew if I obsessed….I’m really proud of myself. I was so mindful. I knew if I obsessed about this thing, I would sabotage it. I’m not going to sabotage it. Every time the resistance came up, I said, “My ego thinks this is a threat, so it wants to react, defend, and fight. In my soul, I don’t have to do anything. In my soul, I can just be at peace. I don’t have to do anything. This is just an illusory thought that my subconscious is throwing my way.” Then I thought, “I know I can’t take this literally [not to do anything], because obviously you have to visualize.” I’ve talked about momentum and choosing your goal. What I got when I asked about that, was, “You’re not doing it. You’re being it.” Just like you said, Justin. You’re being it. You’re having it.
Choose Your Goal Internally
Brandon: So I started saying, “I choose to have my goal now.” It doesn’t mean I have to have it on the outside now. It means that I choose to have it on the inside now, and that’s my choice. Because I’m an infinite soul, I can do that right now. No delay. When the resistance comes up, that doesn’t mean I’m failing at having it. It means my subconscious doesn’t like that because it’s against its programming and whatnot. I don’t have to do anything about that. I happened upon this totally effortless way of manifesting, if you’re really good at it. [laughs]
Justin: What I do is something similar. We talked about energetically putting it behind you, like you’ve already got it. You let it hang on your back, like you’re carrying it already. It makes it feel normal.
Brandon: Yes, that’s a nice kinesthetic way of explaining it.
Christine: Like a backpack.
Brandon: You just have it. What I do is NLP. For me, the past is off to my left. I’ll put it off to my left. “This already happened.” It’s labeled. It’s filed. It’s already happened. I’ll put it off to my left, and it feels more resolved. We have this thing in NLP called timeline therapy. You have to know where your timeline goes. Does it go front to back? Is the past behind you and the future in front of you? Is the past to your left and the future to your right? The way you do that is ask yourself, “If I imagine an event tomorrow, where do I put it in my mental field? Where do I see it? If I think about an event yesterday, where do I see it? If I think about an event next week, then last week, then next month, then last month, then next year, last year, whatever. You don’t have to do every single one of those. Just get a general idea how your timeline flows.
Christine: Mine is forward and backwards.
Justin: [yawns] I’m sorry for yawning. The other thing I do is, “What does this whatever-it-is feel like right now?” You take the next thing. You feel what it’s like to not have it. This is the stress that it puts on my energy. Then you take it and put it behind you, and make it feel like right now. I just do these energy tricks.
Brandon: My timeline goes off to my right, but not directly left to right. It’s more northeast, if that makes sense—kind of at an angle.
Christine: Yes, I get it. Mine goes forward and up and backward and down.
Brandon: That’s exactly what I mean. That’s NLP.
Christine: Not much up, just a little up.
Justin: Just a little up.
An Exercise Using Timelines
Brandon: That is exactly how that works. If you take that goal—if you imagine your goal right now—I want everyone to do this. If you imagine your goal and see where it falls in your timeline naturally….Go ahead, both of you. Do that. Try it out. Where does it fall for you, Christine?
Christine: Just a little bit in front of me, but not much.
Brandon: What about you, Justin?
Justin: It’s a little in front and up.
Brandon: What if you take that and put it just immediately in your past, as if you got it earlier today or yesterday?
Justin: I try to do mine last week or last month. I love that feeling. That’s why I started it. I love this exercise.
Brandon: Exactly. Try that, especially for you, Christine. I don’t think you’ve done it as much. Now, how does it change things? How does it change the feeling? How does it change how you feel it?
Christine: It’s weird. I almost feel like it’s split. Half of it’s in front of me and half of it’s behind me. [laughs]
Brandon: That’s resistance, usually. What you do is relax. Don’t fight it, but just slide the rest of it back behind you, too.
Christine: Oh, okay.
Brandon: You never want to fight your subconscious. Fighting it—Christine, how stubborn am I?
Christine: More stubborn than I am.
Brandon: The subconscious is a lot like me. I’m very stubborn. Someone tells me not to do something, I have to do it. That’s how the subconscious is. If you fight against it, it will push back and it will win. It will win. So you don’t fight it. You coerce it. You convince it. What happens to you, Christine, when you relax and put the whole thing back?
Christine: It just slides in like a puzzle piece.
Brandon: How does the feeling change?
Christine: It’s more peaceful and relieved.
Brandon: That’s it. That is having it. You can use that little trick, whatever you want to do. That’s NLP. I love NLP. I thought, “It’s not a doing. It’s just that I’m going to choose to have it right now.”
Cultivate Your Inner Landscape
Brandon: My inner reality and landscape is mine. By default, maybe I look at my goal and it’s up in front (or wherever is in the future for you). Maybe that’s the default in my landscape. Imagine you move into a new house. You move in, and by default the yard is a certain way. The driveway is a certain way. The backyard. You’re satisfied, but not totally joyful about it. The house could use some improvements. Do you move in and do nothing, or do you move in and make it your own? Hang up your pictures and posters. Get everything landscaped. Put in things you want to put in. Fix up things.
That’s your mind. Except in reality, that costs a lot of money to do some of that stuff. [laughs] In your mind, you just need a few minutes. You just need a few minutes to go in and say, “I don’t like that goal over there. I’m going to put it back here like I’ve already done it. When I think about this, I don’t feel so good, so I’m going to release that. I’m going to let that go and minimize it.” For those who are listening, I really recommend “The Art of Reality Creation 2.0” class. I talked about the reality control room and minimizing resistance. “I’m going to minimize that and put it over there. Throw that in the trash, so to speak.”
You can cultivate your inner landscape however you want it to be. If you’re not happy with what it looks like in there, you can change it. It has tendencies just like outer reality does, so it will fight back a little bit, just like we saw with Christine half-here, half-there. But you can relax into it and say, “How about the whole thing over here?” You might have to repeat that a few times. You have that choice. You can take a few minutes a day—even ten minutes if you want to, however long you want. Change your inner landscape to look how you want it to look.
People might say, “Yeah, but what does that do for the outside?” The outside is just a reflection of the inner landscape. If you have that goal back in the past, where you already feel like you have it on an internal soul level, then pretty soon, if that maintains that position, outer reality has to match what you feel there. Pretty soon, it’s just going to effortlessly slide into your reality.
You don’t really have to do anything. You don’t have to act against. I’m a big Tao type of person. You don’t have to fight against reality. You don’t have to fight against the flow. Remember our thing lately. You go into the flow, and you change it from within. So you don’t have to fight outer reality by taking a bunch of action. You don’t even have to fight inner reality by trying to squash your resistance.
You just have to change very gently and lightly your inner landscape. Decide what you’re going to have now. Decide what you’re going to feel. Decide how you’re going to be. Watch as everything else changes. That’s all it is. It doesn’t really require anything else because that’s what it is.
I’m making it sound easy. Resistance will come up, but again, you don’t have to do anything. Resistance is really illusory. It’s not really a real thing. It’s just an imaginary thought that comes up. Your ego feels threatened. It’s your choice to believe that or not. If you believe it, then it’s like weeds growing up in your garden. If you don’t believe it, they’re not going to grow up. That’s all your choice. It’s an effortless thing where you don’t have to fight reality. You don’t have to do much of anything besides have what it is you want to have right now. Continuously have that, and don’t let the habits of your own thoughts take that away from you.
Justin: That’s really worked for me, that energy method. I can tell.
Brandon: Right. For my goal, it worked out. I didn’t sabotage it. Sometimes I can tell when I’m really obsessing, I’m going to sabotage it. I’m not going to go down that path. In the last couple of days, I really felt relaxed about it. It’s going to work out. When it happened, I was really super excited, but it felt kind of natural also. That’s the biggest thing I learned when I was working through this. It’s not this big production. You don’t have to do all this ego stuff. You don’t have to do much of anything. It’s just a simple process of deciding to have it. Don’t fight anything. Just slide into it. That was the big thing for me. What do you think, Christine? I know you were trying it out.
Christine: That was really awesome. I could do it for a lot of goals. Just play with it.
Brandon: Exactly. The playful attitude. That’s the kind of thing to do. I know I talk about goals, but be playful about it is really good, too.
Christine: Yes. You’ve got to be childlike with these things.
Brandon: Exactly right.
Christine: “What would happen if this happened?”
Brandon: That was a really huge thing. That’s been my thing. I’ll branch that out in next week’s blog post or something. I just think a hands-on experience helps, too, in trying to explain things. That’s where we are right now. I think we’re about up with time.
Christine: That was perfect.
Brandon: Yes, that was really cool.
Justin: It worked.
