One of the biggest issues I notice people experiencing is the tendency to allow external events in life to affect them, and thereby influence their manifestations.
We have the tendency to believe more in that which is in our outer reality, than that which we experience in inner reality.
The issue is that when you believe in outer reality, you aren’t in a very good position to influence that reality. You are taking it as fact, and so you can’t shape it to your will.
How do you get around this issue? That’s the subject of today’s blog post.
Inertia: The Enemy of Change
Reality tends to want to stay the same. This is the force that I’ve called inertia. I’ve also called this the principle of homeostasis.
Most people, unfortunately, are perfectly willing to allow reality to pull them along in its current inertia. This is being lead by life.
Reality has two primary tools it uses to make inertia so compelling:
1. Outer Reality
Most people believe in outer reality by default. They think that what is out there is the final word on what is possible.
The issue is that when they believe in outer reality, it limits them.
Imagine the average person who is just trying to make their way through life. They run into difficulties here and there. But, do they think that these difficulties are optional? Do they believe that these difficulties can be bypassed?
No, the average person is going to believe 100% in the difficulties. If they run into success, great. But if they run into failure, or challenge of some kind, there’s not much they believe they can do about it, besides direct action, which often won’t go far, as we all know.
Believing in outer reality means that you believe it is necessary to be as it is. You surrender to it, giving up your own desires. Perhaps you can take some action within the framework that life has set up for you, but again, results will be limited at best.
It’s quite literally life-changing when you realize that these things are, indeed, optional. You don’t have to put up with the challenges of life, at least not to the extent you have. That’s not to say that life can be challenge-free, but you can set the course, not simply allowing life to do so according to chance.
Have you thought about the power of this stance?
- Instead of being stuck at a job you hate, you can create the shortest pathway to a job you’re passionate about.
- Instead of putting up with too little money, you can create a life where money is bountiful.
- Instead of giving in to a life of loneliness, you can discover a loving, fulfilling relationship.
In other words, you get a choice in where you want life to go. This is the essence of walking the left-hand path: having a choice about, indeed being the final authority on, who you are and what your life looks like.
If you look around you, do you really think that’s the norm? Most just take what they are given, without questioning it.
When I first got my job a few weeks ago, I was doing some research on suggestions for how to adapt to a full-time work schedule, or at least to see if others had trouble with it as well. I love what I do but working 8 hours a day is a new concept.
Anyway, I read several accounts of people saying something to the effect of, “Well, work stinks, but you get through it then do what you want with the rest of your time.” I was honestly kind of surprised at the cynicism of many people, and that work was just something to get through. I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be able to do what I do if I didn’t enjoy it thoroughly.
But that’s the reality of far too many people.
Why? We could come up with all sorts of theories about economics, the over-abundance of undergraduate degrees, the scarcity of good jobs, etc. But none of that really matters in the long-run.
What really matters is that people don’t know how to lead their lives, and instead they allow their lives to lead them.
2. The Subconscious Mind
As convincing as outer reality can be, it’s really only the effect—the result—of something playing out much deeper beneath the surface.
That is, of course, the subconscious mind.
Though outer reality might seem to be quite real, it is vital to realize that outer reality is really only a projection of the subconscious mind. There can be nothing in outer reality which contradicts your subconscious mind. Per the hermetic principle, “As within, so without; as above, so below,” reality is a direct mirror of the subconscious.
Imagine your dreams at night. At the time, they seem pretty real. But once waking up, you realize that they were really only reflections of whatever was most active in your brain that day.
Outer reality is the same. But, to make the illusion more convincing, consistency must be kept. You live within a bubble of your own creation, but few people realize this fact, nor how to manipulate that personal bubble of reality.
So let’s look at the subconscious mind. It’s an immensely powerful part of your consciousness, controlling about 90% or more of your behavior.
The subconscious mind is inertia central. It’s all about automation. If this weren’t so, you wouldn’t be capable of even a quarter of the things you do on a daily basis. Even something as simple as walking would require immense concentration.
So the subconscious is a good thing. The problem comes in when you have a program stuck in there that is doing something you don’t want.
This is important to realize: the subconscious is not against you. Reality is not against you. It’s just doing exactly what you’ve told it to do, and it’s doing that very well.
If you have a belief like, “Money is hard to earn,” you told your subconscious mind at some point in the past to hold that belief for you. And not only to hold it, but to make that belief true. You now have the “money is hard” program running at full bore, and reality is faithfully manifesting those results externally.
If you’re driving, and you program your GPS to go to Miami, when you really wanted to go to New York City, is it really the GPS’s fault when you eventually arrive in Miami? No, of course not. It’s user error.
Similarly, inertia is not really a bad thing. In fact, it’s a great thing once you have programmed your subconscious mind to get the results you want to get. In other words, once you realize your error and program your GPS for New York City, then it’s a really great thing to have.
The important thing to realize, as I mentioned above, is that when you don’t like outer reality, it’s not the fault of outer reality. It’s just the effect of a much deeper cause: the programs within your subconscious mind.
The choice you get is whether you will just allow your subconscious mind to take you where it has always taken you, or whether you will chart a new course to a new destination.
Enter in Will
You know about will. We’ve discussed will nearly non-stop since I introduced the idea nearly six months ago.
However, the importance of will cannot be overstated. It is by far the most important element of creation.
And the reason is simple: it is will that overcomes inertia. It is will that reasserts your right to create, and forges a pathway for that creation to become reality.
So the first step in overcoming unwanted inertia is simply to will it.
I know that seems simplistic, and in a way, it is. I’m not saying you’ll overcome all subconscious resistance and inertia through will alone. Though, once you become very good at this, that is indeed very possible.
However, will is a very powerful force. Just by setting your will in the direction you want to move, you set up a bit of structural tension between where you are and where you want to be.
Imagine you’re not making very much money. Your current financial situation is an example of inertia, of course.
As long as you are resigned to this being just how life is for you, there’s no structural tension. It’s just what it is, and it will continue to be much the same.
But now imagine that you say something to yourself like, “No, this is not what I want. I want more. I want money to be easy for me, and I want more of it in my life.”
Just saying this isn’t enough to actually get it, of course, but this simple act of will is enough to create tension.
When there’s tension, the subconscious mind won’t rest until it is resolved, and there are only two ways of resolving tension: by dropping the vision of what you want, or by your current subconscious structures being changed enough to support the new goal, and that goal manifesting in your life.
So once you make that act of will, the only question is who’s more stubborn: you or your subconscious structures. That’s why it takes such a strong act of will for big next level goals.
Just doing this will dredge up a lot of old subconscious beliefs and programs for you to deal with. That is when the next tool I’ll describe will come in handy.
Mindfulness: The Best Tool for Dissolving Resistance
I’ve given many tools for dealing with resistance. However, the most versatile among these is mindfulness. The reason is that mindfulness strikes right at the root of these subconscious programs.
Your subconscious mind follows very simple logic when deciding if something is important or not: if it causes an emotional reaction, then it must be important. It doesn’t even matter if that emotion is positive or negative. The more intense the emotion, the more important your subconscious mind believes it is.
The other indicator is repetition. One emotional event will certainly peg its interest, but if it happens repeatedly, then it’ll take it a lot more seriously.
The proof of this is simple. You probably can’t remember exactly what you did exactly ten years ago, on April 23, 2007. If I asked you, for example, what you had for lunch that day, you likely wouldn’t be able to tell me.
But if you think back to some important event, like the day of your wedding, the birth of a child, or something else important to you, you’ll likely remember exactly what happened, how you felt, and what you were thinking, all in incredible detail.
The reason is that this event made an impression on your subconscious mind, so the neural pathways to remember this event are a lot more practiced than for some other random day.
Let’s take again this belief of, “Money is hard to earn.” At some point in the past, you ran into this belief. It may have been through your parents, as you observed their behaviors and the way they talked about money, or it may be from your own experiences in life.
But either way, the events that created this subconscious program were likely emotionally intense. There may have been fear, insecurity, frustration, and more. That’s more than enough to make an impression on your subconscious mind.
And, if it was a pattern for your parents, or even for you, then it likely happened many times. So not only was there intense emotion, but there was repetition as well, the perfect recipe for a new subconscious program.
So why is mindfulness so useful? It short circuits this whole process.
An emotional reaction requires that you believe the thoughts your subconscious mind is presenting you with. But when you use mindfulness, you step out of that whole frame. You just watch as the thoughts happen, but the part of you that could react with intense emotion isn’t present.
Even if there is initial emotion, it will quickly subside, as you simply allow it without further reaction.
Mindfulness robs your subconscious programs of the one thing they need to continue. In a short period of time, assuming you keep this up, they will weaken and eventually be released altogether.
It’s not easy, I get that. It takes incredible self control to not react to these very convincing thoughts. You’ve believed them all your life, and your subconscious mind is very persuasive.
However, it takes practice. This stuff does take work. But, once you get good at separating yourself from your thoughts, then you will be much more effective at short circuiting these programs.
This tool is simple, but it works. We do discuss another very effective tool, called the reality control room, in our new class, The Art of Reality Creation 2.0.
What Is It You Want?
I want to leave you with a very simple question that can help you to get back on track when you are allowing life to lead you.
I’ve been thinking about the changes that will come to Co-Creation Coaching due to my new schedule. I’ve been very conflicted, and unsure where I want to take things.
However, I realized something I was doing that wasn’t helping at all. I was thinking about what I “should” do, what people want me to do, etc. I didn’t want to disappoint my audience.
The one thing I didn’t ask myself was, “What do I want to do?”
I think we do this a lot in life. We do what everyone else wants. We do what we think we “should” do. But, we don’t actually ask that one vital question: “What is it I want?”
When you’re not thinking about what you want out of life, you’re allowing life to take the lead. It’s a very hard habit to break, because we’re so used to doing exactly this.
But what if you made a habit of asking yourself what you want out of this situation?
- Maybe you’re at a gathering you don’t really enjoy, and you’d like to leave. But, you also don’t want to disappoint others. What would you do if you asked yourself, “What is it I want?”
- Maybe you’ve received a job offer, but the job isn’t really what you wanted. You think you might take it, because at least it’s something. But, what would you do if you asked yourself, “What is it I want?”
- Maybe you’re not making much money. You think, “Well, that’s just how it is.” But what would happen if you asked yourself, “What is it I want?”
This question gets you back on track. It doesn’t matter what seems to be possible. It matters what it is you want. When you focus on that, and choose it, then your subconscious mind will forge the pathway to that goal.
But you must be courageous enough to ask that question, first. “Right now, what is it I want?”
Can you imagine the possibilities if you started asking this simple question, and really believed that you could have what you want? There would be no limits. And that, in fact, is how it is supposed to be. You’re supposed to lead your life—to direct the course of life where you want to go.
How About You?
Now it’s your turn. Are you leading your life, or are you allowing life to lead you? What would happen if you asked yourself, “What is it I want?” Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

This was such a delight to read before bed. Good night~ 🙂
Thanks, Z. I appreciate that. 🙂
Brandon, have you performed another (black magic) ritual lately? Also, with your new programming job, have you used any ritual, and have you used will in the zero state for completing your first project?
Hi Z,
No rituals yet. Though I got my robe last week finally, so I want to do one soon. 😀
Didn’t really need to manifest to get the first project done, as it was really simple. I haven’t found too many things I needed to manifest within this job yet. Perhaps I’m still just getting a lot of the results from the past manifestation. 🙂
Oh cool, congratulations on getting the robe! 🙂
I’m glad that things are going well with the job. Just today I had a talk with a colleague of mine. He knows that I’m not into what we’re studying, and he asked me what I would like to do for a living. I said that I don’t know, but what I do know is that I would like to do something that I really enjoy doing. From his response it was obvious that he doesn’t think that having a job one can enjoy is possible. lol
…which made me glad that I’m here in this world to break the common beliefs. I believe one day I will be doing something that I’ll enjoy a lot.
You are a great example of that, and I’ll keep reminding myself of it.
Well, you are the captain of your ship, after all! ?✈️
I would love to talk about different types of realities, but since it’s beyond the scope of the blog and most people, we’ll just stick with the one we’re in ?♀️
We know we can change our life, the problem is others tell us it’s not possible from when we are babies. I mean, that’s how we’re raised. This is why we must de-program ourselves. And, even if you want a four day work week because what we have now is just not good, you are told “you can’t do that”. There are jobs that allow you to make your own schedule, but you are told they’re hard to get, there’s too much competition, you name it, they say it.
But so much for these distractions. I really like what you said about not getting emotionally charged. I call it anesthetizing myself, and yes, it works! ??
@Kat Kat, how are you doing? It’s been quite a while since we got a chance to talk. I hope that things are going well for you. 🙂

awesome post! lol, kat, actuaaly one of my next kevel goals is a 4 day work week!
Fantastic! ?
A 4-day work week is much more natural and balanced than a 5 or 6 day one. I know it is the standard, but I think the basis for this was the Abrahamic religions. I mean, the pagans, from what I’ve read, mostly partied and made merry of most their life. They were not so obsessed with work. If they were, I haven’t read it.
You can argue any way you would like, but there are different standards to things and it’s good that other ways of thinking and doing things are becoming more mainstream and not cookie-cut, if you know what I mean. If not, no worries. You can tell I’m all for this. ?
I honestly get bored on the weekends. Maybe that won’t last but I’m glad I work 5 days. 🙂 I really enjoy my job, though.
Very very insightful post Brandon . It all makes sense. And the very last question you have mentioned to ask yourself will surely help a lot.
I am kind of walking this path right now. My life got hectic lately and I couldn’t get time for things I used to do and enjoy. That made me angry and frustrated person. But then I decided to make conscious changes. Like you said in your previous post I think that sometimes we just have to go through what is in front of us without thinking about it. I did exactly that. I just did things physically but made sure my mind is focused on my goals. That made bumpy ride very smooth.
I started reading and listening inspirational and motivational things everyday. Even if it’s just for 10 minutes. I do meditation no matter what. I started seeing changes in me. I still have challenging moments but they are very easy to pass now. My subconscious mind is convinced with one thing now and that is no matter what, it’s not going to be the end and everything is fine and will be fine. I am feeling lot relaxed besides having very busy day and having less than 6 hours sleep because of my baby.
You are right about mindfulness. It really helps and keeps reminding you that you are doing fine just stay focused. For me peace is ultimate achievement. That calmness feels so good. And its amazing to feel changes within you. Feeling endless hopes.

I manifested two very small things over the last 3 days.
That doesn’t sound like much, but to me every little thing helps build my trust over time, my trust in the LOA/magic.
Great post Brandon. The asking of ourselves “what do I really want” is a nudge to open ourselves up vulnerably out of our comfort zone as well,, beyond the defenses of ego protection. In other words, it’s so easy to please people (I did it for years), out of a fear of losing people’s love, validation or approval, but stepping into your power as a creator really does mean……”what do I want to create right now?”. It’s wonderfully liberating to know that I’m always at the helm, and not in the way that my ego likes to think 🙂

Now it’s both real New Moon, and my own personal New Moon (the Moon is in Aries). I wonder if that explains why yesterday my health took a turn to hell, and has been raping me violently today.
I want to ask, does anyone here know of a good quality, free Reiki course, or something? Maybe my question is a bit naive, but I’m desperate. My health problems are disabling me completely, and I don’t have the money to afford healing from someone. It’s super pathetic and lame, I know. These health problems have been poisoning my life for more than 6 years now, and I’m so sick of them. I want to live, god damn it, not keep wriggling in pain my whole life.
Z, if I may ask, what exactly ails you? What are your symptoms? Is it your stomach and bowel, from what I understand, or is it pain all over, as Chaucer describes? It would be great to PM me to describe all your ailments. I mean, is there blood coming out or not? You may have an autoimmune disease of the bowel. Or some sort of allergy.
But this is solely based on what I’ve read. I don’t know. I just read that autoimmune disorders are really the body’s overrreaction to a virus/es, so you must take care of yourself. I am not writing this to worry you or anything, even though I don’t think you will be at this point, but it’s always good to check.
I second figuring out if it’s autoimmune … Especially it is stomach related. Personally, stomach pain is the only thing that has ever been a “ten” on my pain scale and I can’t advise powering through it. If western medical doctors are unaffordable, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners are a good second option. Acupuncture and herbal remedies can help with a great many things.
Hey, @Kat
Sometimes I just start getting awful pain in my abdomen, coupled with nausea. Recently I had some insights about what might be causing it. I feel like I have a lot of energy inside of me, but due to my focus and bad management, it’s been stuck, and I haven’t been creating and enjoying the world like I could. I had an amazing weekend, which kind of proved that to me. After that I got awful health again, but I think that’s because I mismanaged my focus and energy again.
Now I start getting pressure in my head, which feels like someone is using their 2 hands to squeeze my skull. At the same time I feel the pressure in my neck, and my abdomen, again, like someone is trying to squeeze it. I know that you have mentioned “left brain” several times, and I think that these might be due to my mismanagement of the “left brain”. Multitasking, overthinking (not about bad stuff specifically, but a very scattered disorganized thinking) etc. overload my brain. I think that’s why my nerves start contracting. I’ve noticed I walk fast and always rush, which just adds to the general stress. Today I walked slowly, breathed deeply and generated peace in myself, like you do. I had a really great time for many hours. I guess I need to work on this.
As for the autoimmune disease, I actually underwent that examination a few years ago, and it was negative, so it’s not that. Thank you for suggesting that possibility though, I really appreciate it.
I see, Z. I tried to post something while in the subway, but without a connection in the tunnel, it didn’t post. ?
It’s good that you were cleared for autoimmune diseases. It’d be good to look into the allergy possibility though. Unless you mean that ball of negativity in the pit of your stomach. That indeed is resistance. I feel it as well and have noticed that those who do not resist actually have a happier life than those who do in the sense that things are happening for them, etc. this is why I try to smooth out the resistance and just not have it so things can pop in my life as well.
A visit to the student health clinic is warranted. You do not need to pay there. It is a place to start.
Hey Z! Oh man do I know what that’s like … I have fibromyalgia (basically my brain is wired to react like crazy to pain signals) and “maybe lupus” (why I can’t get a proper diagnosis, I do not know). There are a few herbal things that help, depending on what your medical condition is. Arnica comes in both cream and pill form. It’s homeopathic and works pretty well to at least take the edge off most pain. Also, Kratom is a life saver. It’s a plant from Thailand that reduces pain and inflammation. Works on the opioid receptors but is NOT an opioid. It won’t make you high and it’s not addictive unless you take huge amounts (I take it daily but if I forget or run out, I don’t crave it). It’s made into a powder and you can put it in a drink (I don’t do this because the taste is nasty) or pack it into capsules and take it that way.
On to your question about reiki … I am actually a master level reiki practioniner me I’d be willing to see if I can help. I’ll have to get back to you on this since I’ve never done distance reiki on someone I haven’t met before. I’m going to ask the guy who attuned me about this. Most people do charge for services, but you can absolutely find people who happen to be Master practioners and offer their help for no cost. I think in-person treatments are a better option but I’ll see what I can do ….
Thanks Chaucer, that’s so sweet of you. However, I can’t accept that. xD
You have your own health struggles, so I would like it more if you applied your Reiki skills to focus on improving your own health. Fibromyalgia should be curable, considering LOA and (black) magic. Right, Brandon? I would love to hear about your own health progress, it will probably inspire me and give me pointers for improving my own health.
I don’t even know how long (or how many sessions of Reiki) it would take for me to be healed. It would be the best if I could do it on my own somehow, or if I had money to consistently and fairly pay someone for as long as it’s necessary. For example, if it would take 6 months, at least once a week, then that would be a lot of work, that would deserve to be paid, in my opinion.
Thanks anyway, you’re very kind.
No problem! I think what might make the most sense for you is to find someone to at least do the level 1 attunement for you. The attunement process brings up a lot of hidden resistance in general, and as soon as you’re attuned, you’re able to do basic healing on yourself and others.
In my own process, I spent way too much time feeling bad for myself and taking on my disabilities as part of my identity. It’s not an awful way to cope with things, but it isn’t great when paired with an attitude that says “the medical establishment and my own body are out to get me”. I was very determined to see one specific doctor whom I’d seen before my health insurance lapsed. When I saw her two years ago, she was amazing. When I saw her again, however, she barely spent 10 minutes with me and almost left without diagnosing me with anything! I was at rock bottom at that point and just refused to leave until she gave me something to go on. Which is how I finally ended up on a medication that helped with my pain. By the time you get to a point where you’re miserable and SOMETHING has to give, I think you’re probably in as good a place as any to start manifesting things that will help you out. You’re already uncomfortable and you have to manifest something better for yourself. …. at least, that’s the way I am. But I never take “no” for an answer and I’d rather die than fail at something I set out to do. I’m maybe a little too intense for my own good. ?
@Chaucer
I guess I might set an intention for a healing to come to me, and see if I happen to find someone like that. By the way, last night I had some insights into why I might be having these issues. I still need to experiment.
Hi Chaucer!
Where do you get your homeopathic meds from? There is a section in all the local pharmacies around here, so I wonder if you purchase in person or online.
Do you get the Kratom online? If so, which brand do you prefer? Unless all brands pretty much have the same effect, which is possible. My friend takes those meds and swears by it, however, she continues to complain of pain, so perhaps they just ease it a bit. She has chronic fatigue syndrome which is now known as systemic exertion intolerance disease, which is true, she literally is not able to do anything.
Hello! I actually get mine from either Target or Whole Foods, but the brand I like best is Boiron. I think they’re also available online. I use their stuff for everything from chronic pain to colds!
I do indeed get my kratom online. ? My favorite suppliers so far are Major Kratom and Kraoma. Both have fantastic quality and are run by great people. For pain, I find red, white, and yellow strains to be most effective. Yellow is also good for insomnia. Green is good for energy (like coffee but a much cleaner/clearer energy).
Wow, I was not aware of all the uses nor about the possible purchasing places! Thank you. ??
@Chaucer

You absolutely can create a four-day work week, or anything else you want. Others have been programmed to think that you can’t, just like Brandon said. You’ve got to open you own way with creation from time to time, and most people, this of course being a visual world, can’t comprehend anything that’s not right in front of them.
.
Great job Cody on the manifestations.
Justin
Thanks Justin.
I manifested a small thing this week, and also something nice and big. I don’t want to go into detail, but it does feels nice to be getting some more manifestations lately that I wanted.
Z, Reiki is indeed a good way to go. If you can get the basic level one atunement that would be a start.
