You know pretty well how to manifest in your own life. But, now the question is, could you manifest in someone else’s life, too?
Perhaps you want your crush to love you in return. Or, you just want to help a friend or family member recover from illness. Whatever the motivation is, this is a question that is often asked.
I’ve seen many different answers to this out there. The overall consensus has been, only if they’re a match to whatever you’re trying to manifest for them. If the sick person is a match to health, then your attempts can have a significant effect. But if they’re not, then it probably won’t.
But, as always, I like to explore such issues and come to my own conclusion.
This topic comes from a question that CJ sent me. Here’s the question:
Hey Brandon,
Can one person’s intent influence another? eg. Can person A pray for person B who is across the other side of the planet and who is unaware of person A’s intent, and person B heals?
If you’d like to ask me your own question to be answered on this blog, then you can ask it here.
Common Analogs to Manifestation
I want to compare manifestation to some common analogs, first. Manifestation is known by many different names, and studying these various forms can help to understand it even better.
Prayer
CJ compared manifestation to prayer, so I feel this is a perfect place to start.
It’s pretty common in religious or spiritual circles to pray for others. I’ve even heard of scientific studies where prayer has been effective, even if the target of the prayer wasn’t aware that they were being prayed for.
So, it seems pretty clear from the start that people can definitely be influenced in some way by prayer.
How precisely is manifestation similar to prayer?
It’s all based on energy. While I don’t believe in a personal God, prayer helps us to connect to Universal Energy, and shape that energy through our words and emotions.
However, the common understanding, to my knowledge anyway, is that someone cannot be prayed for against their will. Those who believe in prayer often heavily emphasize the importance of free will, and that God will never force us to do anything that is against our will.
What if it is in alignment with their will, but their subconscious programming does not align with such a change? This usually isn’t addressed in discussions on prayer. I will introduce my own view on this topic later on.
So, to summarize, prayer:
- Is effective for others
- Cannot influence them against their free will
- Is unknown whether it can influence them against their subconscious programming
Magic
Prior to learning about the law of attraction, I had a great deal of background in magic of various types. So, this one is more familiar to me.
Magic, in my view, is really just another term for the law of attraction. Both are concerned with creating change in the physical world.
The main difference is that the law of attraction generally doesn’t use any props, while magic is well-known for using ritualistic items to make it more believable.
What do magic users say about influencing others?
There’s definitely more acceptance of it, from what I’ve seen. The difference from prayer is that the effect of magic is not always positive. There are plenty who will happily curse another, and claim it to be effective.
This speaks to the issue of free will as well. Obviously, those who are cursed aren’t going to freely choose to be cursed, so it seems that there is some leeway here.
On the other hand, I’ve seen a great deal of warning about overly influencing someone else’s will. It’s generally held that it will backfire, eventually.
So, in summary, magic:
- Can definitely influence others
- May be able to influence them against their will, though it’s not always a great idea
- Is unknown whether it can influence them contrary to their subconscious programming
Interestingly, this is pretty similar to the conclusions reached regarding prayer, so it seems we’re coming to some agreement.
Healing
Healing is another form of all of the above.
Of course, healing is primarily based on the assumption that you can influence someone else, for the positive, using some healing modality. So, obviously healers tend to believe that you can affect another with energy.
Each modality is different, but the overall belief, when it comes to energy healing, is that you can use your own connection to the Universe to either (1) send energy to another person and bring them into greater alignment with health, or (2) rebalance their energy field to achieve greater alignment.
Can you do it against their free will, though? Most healers tend to say that you cannot. If someone doesn’t want to be healed, then no amount of healing will change that.
Similarly, when it comes to subconscious programming that gets in the way of healing, usually those subconscious programs have to be changed before healing can be affected.
So, in summary, healing:
- Can influence others
- Cannot influence them against their will
- Cannot influence them contrary to their subconscious programs
So, I’ve outlined the understanding according to prayer, magic, and healing. Now, I’ll give my own perspective, but will divide it into the points I used above:
- Can you influence another with the law of attraction?
- Can you influence another against their free will?
- Can you influence another contrary to their subconscious programming, regardless of their free will?
Can You Influence Others with the Law of Attraction?
Users of prayer, magic, and healing seem to believe that you can influence others. Is it true?
Yes, I believe so.
As I said above, everything is based on energy. A manifestation, itself, is simply an energetic structure, which is translated into physical experiences.
In fact, healing is essentially a direct application of the law of attraction. When you do healing, it’s essential to hold the picture of that person in full health. That will, in turn, call upon your energy flow to create that picture of health that you are holding.
The same goes for prayer and magic. I’ve written before about the most effective way to pray. Though most people don’t know this, it’s also important to hold your desired outcome in mind when praying, because, of course, it is just another manifestation.
Similarly, magic users well know that you must hold in mind the outcome that you desire, perhaps supported by external props, in order to strengthen that image.
So, it’s all the same thing. The image that you hold, when combined with a positive emotional response, will call upon Universal Energy to create that image in outer reality.
All that you already know. But what’s the difference when another person is involved?
Well, that person is still in your experience, so it’s not much different than a manifestation for yourself. You are essentially manifesting that in your experience, that person will act according to your image of them.
For instance, if you want to have a better relationship with a coworker, then you’d hold the picture, or state the affirmation, of them being nicer in your reality. Once combined with the positive emotion you’d like to feel as a result, the energy will go out and create exactly that. Your coworker will soon begin to act nicer towards you.
But, what about their interactions with others? That, you cannot affect. That is a co-creation of that person, along with all the others that they’ll be interacting with. Each person will co-create a different experience with that coworker.
Let’s say your coworkers name is Lisa. In the past, she’s been rather cold and standoffish with you. But, after you hold the picture of her being nicer and warmer towards you, she starts to match your vision for her.
But, now let’s take another coworker, Bob. Bob thinks Lisa is rude and snobbish. You can’t affect his experience of Lisa. Bob will continue to experience her as rude and snobbish, unless and until he changes his own perception from the inside.
Did you actually influence Lisa? Of course. You brought out her already existing nicer side when she’s around you, because you’re now a match to that aspect of her.
You have to realize that each person is a conglomeration of various aspects, some of which are completely different. A person might be very loving towards their family, no-nonsense at work, jovial with friends, and so on.
The desired picture you have of that person probably already exists in some way. All you have to do is to bring it out, by becoming a match to that part of them.
Can You Influence Others Against Their Free Will?
So, we’ve established that you can definitely influence others with the law of attraction. But, what if it is against their free will?
Obviously, I’m not saying you’d ever want to do this. But, it is simply out of curiosity.
In magic circles, you’ll see people asking for or offering love spells, usually to make a specific person interested in them. Even on law of attraction forums, the question will often arise whether you can manifest a specific partner.
This one is pretty complicated. I’ll use a relationship example, since that’s the common application.
Let’s say you’re interested in a girl named Sarah. Maybe you’ve already gauged her interest, and she’s turned you down.
Can you use the law of attraction to make her interested in you?
The answer is, maybe.
When you asked her out the first time and she rejected you, you weren’t on the same energetic wavelength. She felt this on an intuitive level, and so turned you down.
But, as you begin to focus on having a relationship with her, she might start to notice other qualities about you, which are more desirable. Furthermore, you might be motivated subconsciously to change those qualities that she wasn’t in favor of, or else they’ll just become of less importance to her.
The point is, it’s subtle. You can’t make her attracted to who you were the first time you asked. But, if your energy is close enough to hers, then slight alterations can be made to make you more of a match.
What if you’re totally different, though? For instance, you’re interested in having an independent lifestyle, free of children, but she wants to have kids, and in fact that’s of central importance to her.
In that case, you probably can’t reconcile such a difference.
Or, what if you’re very positive, but she is generally negative? Then again, that probably won’t work.
Sometimes, people will try anyway. There is enough agreement on enough topics, that they’ll go for it. But, it soon becomes like fitting a square peg in a round hole. The incompatibilities will become more and more apparent over time.
Incidentally, that’s why it’s important to focus not on the person with whom you’d like to have a relationship, but the idea of having the perfect relationship for you. People are tempted to try to manifest a specific person, but the Universe knows better who is your best match.
Can You Influence Others Contrary to Their Subconscious Programming?
The final question is whether you can influence another, even if it is against their subconscious programming.
For instance, can you manifest wealth for a person who has lack consciousness? Or, can you influence health for a person who has sickness consciousness?
The answer again is, it depends.
Or, more accurately, the answer is, sort of, but it’s not a good idea.
The central purpose of the Universe is freedom. Each of us is here to face, and release, our resistance to various experiences.
It is possible to temporarily overcome that resistance, which stems from subconscious programming. But, the backlash will be severe.
Let’s take two examples to illustrate this point.
First, let’s say that Frank has been diagnosed with cancer. Your desire, of course, is to help him in any way you can.
Of course, this is desirable, and commendable. But, when he doesn’t react to your initial attempts, you redouble your efforts.
Eventually, you might see some change. Perhaps he even recovers completely.
But, the underlying cause of the illness has not been addressed. So, in time, it manifests in some other way.
Perhaps he falls into depression. Maybe he has a relapse of his condition. Or, a completely different illness might even take its place.
The point is, he has temporary relief, but the underlying issue was not resolved, so it will necessarily come back up in another way. Hopefully this time he catches it sooner, before it can become so serious, but he might not.
Let’s take another example. Emily is struggling financially. You want to help her out, so you start seeing her as wealthy and abundant.
Again, it has no effect. So, you put even more effort into it.
Now, let’s say Emily wins the lottery. She’s an instant millionaire.
But, her subconscious programs haven’t been addressed. She has no idea how to be a millionaire. So pretty soon, she’s wasted it all, and is back to where she was before, if not even worse off.
Just as in the first example, she had some temporary gains, but wasn’t able to keep up with them vibrationally. Her subconscious programming was just too resistant to the new changes, and so she fell back to her initial state of lack.
Now, you might wonder, can you accidentally push someone too far through your own efforts?
Usually not. These are made up examples, obviously. However, it could be possible, if you obsess about the manifestation, and this combines with their own determination to change.
For instance, if Emily really wanted to be a millionaire, and you really wanted this for her, then the energy might combine to create the above circumstances. But, you generally wouldn’t be able to force her into this situation without her own agreement to it.
However, it does outline the importance of taking it easy with your manifestations. Your outlook should be one of ease and effortlessness, whether the manifestation is for you or for another. If they are open to it, then it will have its intended effect. If they aren’t, then it’ll do what it can at least.
Intending well for another is never a bad idea. As long as you keep it light and effortless, then your positive energy will have great effects on them, as long as they’re open to it.
In Summary
So, to answer the three questions I outlined earlier:
- You can influence others with the law of attraction
- You cannot do it against their will, except for subtle changes that make them more of a match
- You can, in theory, influence them against their subconscious programming, at least in certain circumstances, but it is not a good idea
As I said, intending wellbeing for others is always a good idea. You do not need their permission to do this, because it cannot hurt them.
However, the effect this will have depends on many elements. Generally, it’s best just to leave it up to the Universe to align everything in the best way.
How About You?
Now it’s your turn. Have you ever tried to manifest for another? What was the result? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

The first thing that came to mind when reading this topic was an account I heard of. Someone’s son was wrongfully accused of a crime and was sentenced to be hanged in the 1800s and the dad went to the local energy practitioner to help in this situation and she did. She saved the teen. She was present at the hanging and then something happened. There was lightning and that’s all I recall or understood. Anyway, it’s was very interesting.
Also interesting is if you want to have a better relationship with someone, think of them as more pleasant. In society, we actually do the opposite, label them as a jerk and can never turn it around that way. I know it can be changed in a matter of a weekend. But I think you really have to see and feel them as such. And you are absolutely right, people are pussycats with their families so you can get them to be nicer to you if you see them that way.
Well, again the conclusion I draw is that others, like life, can be what you put forth them to be, what you put out there for them to be. So it is up to you and your light feelings. So, a good life requires light feelings, not the opposite.
Hi Kat,
I agree 100%. The story you told is very interesting, but I definitely believe it. 🙂 I’ve heard some crazy stories.
And yes, see the other person the way you want them to be, not the way your ego is tempted to see them. 🙂 It can be hard, but definitely possible.
Thanks Brandon. Here’s what made me ask this (it relates to the Rosenthal experiments with people and rats).
If a doctor has an expectation a patient will die, he can create enormous problems for the patient, even death. The patient believes all the negative cues and against his will is made much worse. This story is told in ‘You are the Placebo’ by Dispenza.
Might there be a way to protect oneself against such negative influences (a non-magical way)? Or might there be a way to prevent my negativity affecting others? I feel the possibility of unintended energetic influence is high. If the aura is damaged, can that affect this?
Hi CJ,
Yes, I definitely believe that is possible.
To protect yourself, the best way is to not have any fears to play on. Or, at least, not react to the ones that come up. Magical curses, for example, will play on any negative vibration that is left over in your energy field. If you are mostly light and positive, then it’ll have nothing to stick to.
As far as not affecting others, there’s not much you can do there. Each person is responsible for themselves. Despite what it seems like, we’re not here to be insulated from every negative influence out there. It’s sort of like insulting a person from all germs. They’re going to be worse off in the long run, because their immune system has nothing to fight. So, a bit of negativity isn’t going to hurt anyone.
I think in CJ’s example with the doctor, the patient’s belief is also playing a role. The patient probably believes, “If the doctor thinks there’s something wrong with me, then there must be something wrong with me, even if I felt okay before.” That’s perhaps part of the subconscious programming involved that gets the ball rolling. If a person believed, “What doctors think is totally irrelevant to the state of my body,” probably the negative expectation of the doctor wouldn’t have an effect. (In America, a person who believed this would probably never even go to a doctor, so you may have to imagine a situation where the person winds up going to a doctor for some other reason, like to fulfill a mandatory requirement for a workplace in Japan.) I suppose there could even be a person who so firmly believed that doctors are always completely wrong, that the doctor’s negative expectation improved their health! haha Of course, I don’t know what sort of belief or programming about doctors it would be best to have….”What the doctor thinks matters, but is not the final say” ? “What the doctor thinks doesn’t matter” ? “My body heals on its own” ? None of these feels fully satisfying to me. Can the subconscious hold a really nuanced perspective, like, “I will take the doctor’s expectation as feedback about the state of my vibration and a possible prompting for releasing resistance and not as unchangeable fact about my body’s health” ? haha
Brandon, I really loved how you showed the similarities and differences among LOA, magic, prayer, and healing. This was really helpful and fun. Thanks for providing so many specific examples, too!
I should probably add that a lot of this must be subconscious or vibrational, if the doctor has negative expectations that he/she hides from the patient. I haven’t read the book CJ mentioned, but I imagine at least some of the examples are cases where the patient didn’t consciously know the doctor thought his/her health was awful?
Lisa,
Yes, I agree that the patient’s subconscious outlo ok towards the doctor will play a role in it as well.
I would say the best subconscious belief would be something like, “My body naturally tends towards health. Even if I am temporarily sick, health is my default state.”
Thanks for your comments, and I’m glad you enjoyed the post. 🙂

Thank you for this, Brandon. I was just thinking about this yesterday comcerning my friend’s mother and his relationship with his girlfriend.
I wanted to help them through the processes described, nut understand now that unless the third parties aren’t in like mind (and I’m not sure what they want), then I can only support and comfort my friend as best I can. He is sometimes not in a possitive state of mind either.
Thank you again for clarification.
Thanks Brenda.
I’d still definitely send him positive energy. Like I said, it can’t hurt. But, he’s responsible for his own path. Your energy can support him for sure, but he’ll have to face his own demons.

Thanks for great blog, Brandon. I totally believe you can at least assist with manifesting for someone else, but in my experience, not only must they be a match but they need to be focusing on same goal at least partially.
Recently, my close friends home on Florida coast was right in path of Hurricane Matthew & she had to evacuate. Although everyone was telling her that her home was going to be gone when she returned & to be prepared for that, I kept pictiringvit completely whole & undamaged with no resistance whatsoever.i did this all night at the time the Hurricane was in her area.i didn’t sleep at all.
I texted her about it & she replied that she had these unusual string images of it completely undamaged at the same time I was imaging & feeling really relieved tha it was fine. The next day she came back & it was standing there just as I’d seen & felt & she was joyous & relieved,
So I do believe it can be done but both people really need to be nor only a match to the manifestafion, but it helps to let the other person know what you’re doing even if they don’t participate as it strengthens the overall energy field & I believe makes it a more clear path for the Universe .
Hope that doesn’t sound too iffy. But remember for someone else I think it does take more energy & intention.
Hi Frann,
Thanks for your comment. 🙂
I don’t think they necessarily have to be focused on the same goal. I know plenty of people who have performed a spell of some kind (just from the magical perspective) for someone else, and it worked, regardless if that person was focused on the same goal or not.
Yes. Thanks for that reply. My reasoning about both people needing to be involved was faulty. But just wondering if having the other person involved makes the possibility of desired manifestation stronger since you’re focusing as a team.
Definitely stronger. That’s why in witchcraft, covens are so popular. A group of people focusing on the same desire is far more effective than a single person.
Happy full moon everyone. Full moon is tonight. 🙂

Wonderful post Brandon. I think nobody can help the person who doesn’t want to help himself and like to feel like a victim and blame everything around them. I have seen that kind of people in my life.
I think your approach to anything and anybody matters a lot. If you smile you will get smile back. If your energy throw is very strong then people around you will feel positive and will love to be around you. But very few people like to take initiative in doing so.
I believe in prayers. They do magic. But I agree with you that we can’t manifest for somebody. Because we don’t know how much they are willing to participate in it and if that’s exactly what they want. Its better just to focus on your things which are totally under your control. And wish everybody good life. Thank you :).
Thanks for your comment, Rhea. I totally agree with what you said. You can’t help anyone who isn’t open to being helped.
What if the person has a disorder that is holding them back from being able to comprehend life itself? Then would that aply to them as well? Sorry not trying to sound rude just curious.

I just thought of something, and I need to ask you this. Why do you keep manifesting a version of me that complains most of the time? You are very enlightened and use LOA very well, and yet you keep attracting a version of me that keeps failing at LOA. Or should I say, a reader who is having troubles despite all your help and good explanations. How come the Universe doesn’t align things so that I would disappear from your reality? I don’t think that a constantly complaining reader, who for some reason hasn’t aligned with a good life, is a positive manifestation for you.
So, I am wondering… Is this a failure on your part? Or is it maybe that the real you is in some other parallel reality, and I’m not perceiving the real you? Let me get something straight, I’m neither trying to bash you with this, nor am I trying to be emo. It’s pure curiosity. I do plan to keep trying to live the kind of life I want, but for the time being, I can’t help but wondering why you keep attracting an unsuccessful version of me. Is it due to some resistance that you still haven’t managed to release?
I’m really curious, please let me know.
Hey Z,
Very good question. 🙂 And, I’m not offended at all.
It’s actually not a negative manifestation at all, in my view. Sure, I appreciate the readers who are able to grasp the material and apply it to their lives. But, the ones that really help me to grow are the ones who struggle to apply these principles.
The reason is that I’m constantly updating my techniques, and trying to make them easier to understand and to apply for more people. If everyone only ever gave me positive feedback, but never told me of their struggles, well, I wouldn’t know how to improve my material.
I’ve made leaps and bounds in the past month or so with updating my processes and techniques, mostly thanks to those who struggled with my prior explanations. Those processes haven’t been reflected in the blog as of yet, but have been in my coaching and private classes. Parts of it will appear on the blog at some point, too.
Plus, the things that people struggle with, inspire new blog post topics, which I need a constant stream of, lol, since I’m writing two posts a week. 🙂
So, it’s not at all a negative manifestation. It’s actually helped me a great deal, and I appreciate that.
Ah, I see. That makes sense, I guess. Thank you for your reply!

Hi Brandon, interesting blog post, but I’m not sure if I agree with this one. Let’s take the example of a celebrity like Justin Bieber, there are millions of fan girls who want to be with him and think/visualize about him all the time, even by probability alone at least SOME of these girls will become a match to being with him right? (considering subconscious programming and all that) but he is not and has never been in a relationship with a fan. I don’t believe that you can make someone (or even influence them) to fall in love with you, I think everyone has free will and can choose who they love.
Also take someone like Trump, the whole world hates him (of course he has supporters too but there are some really vicious hate campaigns against him and a lot of people focussing negatively on him, especially near the beginning of his campaign), but it still didn’t stop him from winning and I don’t think it’s influencing him in a negative way as long as he doesn’t let it on an energetically level. Of course, if he starts to listen to those comments and be influenced by them, that’s a different story but what I’m saying is, I believe he can still create safety for himself despite all those people that want him dead.
Hi Indigo,
It’s hard to explain, but just from personal experience, I’ve seen people cursed, even unintentionally, by others who dislike or outright hate them. Magical curses is an ancient tradition of magic, and it definitely works, that’s all I can say.
But, you can protect yourself, of course. I believe that to be a celebrity, you really need to have a strong will, or else all the conflicting energies is really going to mess with you. Trump has a very, very strong will, so he’ll likely be fine.
Also, there’s a difference between the relatively unfocused intention of people who hate Trump, vs. someone who really means someone else harm and knows how to go about doing that. Most people don’t know how to use their will on a magical level.
I believe you can indeed manifest someone to like you back but you have to have a some sort of interaction with that person at least from time to time. The fact that Justin Bieber is famous, he is more than likely on a different energetic wavelength than someone who is not also famous. So it would be too unrealistic to try to manifest someone who is famous if the person manifesting isn’t famous as well or not able to interact directly with that person from time to time.

i have a question….does the universe give u signs/omens of a person you should be with? even if u dont think that person is good for u because of some negative character flaws, does the universe know the future if you two would match and have it be true love? i have been in love w/ a person i met a few years ago and the connection was insane, never have i felt that before. i also connected w/ this person as a child, an astounding emotional connection by just looking at each other but not speaking….but i forgot about him and moved on w/ my life until we officially met a decade later then BAM! i felt it must’ve been a soulmate connection because i never felt something so strong and beautiful before…
the thing is that like i said, he has character flaws and i worry that he’s not husband-material and is too damaged. i have heard of 2 people who “prayed” (they were christian) for their wayward husbands to change and be basically husband-material and not players! so how did that work? was that LOA? can i do this in my situation? i only ask because i have tried everything to get over him, i had another relationship but i keep getting strong signs/omens that i should be w/ him including other people who dont know me or my situation tell me we are destined to be together? i love him so deeply its insane but im also practical and want someone suited to me because i feel we are so different even though we seem to have important similarities and i dont want him to break my heart because he’s a known heartbreaker although when we met i treated him badly and he didnt care and still wanted to be w/ me which never happened to me before….idk what im asking really….am i attracting signs/omens that i should be w/ this man because of the deep love i feel for him but in reality he’s no good for me? am i doing this to myself or do we really have a connection? i assume that all this is happening because we do have a real connection…is the universe personal and care if im w/ the wrong person or is it just a set of rules and u have to be careful who and what u attract?

Hi. I want something good to happen to my friend. Can I manifest it? I want my friend to get into the same college I did but they are in a waitlist. Is it possible for me to influence or help?

My brother has been diagnosed with disorganized schizophrenia. He is my best friend and I can tell he is confused and can’t think straight. He had been normal his whole life.. well he had some ups and downs but nothing that would make me think he had this disorder. We used to hangout all the time and have so much fun.. laughing till we cry and just goofing off. Now he can’t even look at me. I can tell he is affraid and doesn’t quite know what is going on yet. He’s currently at a institution on medications. They are trying to help him but he is still just blank. Would this be something I should manifest on since he isn’t in his “right subconscious” or should I let the universe take it’s own course?? Please let me know because I want my best friend back. I miss him ?

Thank you for your time reading this.
I have come the first time on your website and I love it, also the clarification on magick, left and right hand path. As I was initially only interested in finding truth and later on manifestation techniques came in I felt for very long kind of torn apart inside. It felt actually wrong to have and follow desires. In time I understood more that the one does not exclude the other, that it actually is the dance of Shiva and Shakti. Nonmanifest with manifest. And then all really relaxes 😉 Here in regards to manifesting for others I found really a no as who am I to tell another God what is right or wrong for them. Or..if someone is sick and asks for healing then I help out. But if he asked again and again I would also ask in return if it is not maybe time that he realizes that the healing power is himself. Of course we are all each other´s Self yet we all as embodiments eventually are here to find this out also ourselves. …Like this I more or less move and found more acceptance and therefore love for all expressions
