Many people feel lost in life, because they feel that the Universe is just bringing them one negative manifestation after another, and can’t see what the Universe could possibly be trying to communicate to them.
I’ve had people tell me that life is cruel—that they’ve done all the right things and yet they are still experiencing a seemingly endless string of negative manifestations.
So, what’s the point? Is the Universe trying to convey some message to you through the resistance, or are you simply vulnerable to the whims of life?
Life Is All About You
The first thing to understand is that there are no accidents in life.
I’ve observed how the Universe works in my own life, as well as those of my clients. What I’ve seen is that the Universe has the unbelievable ability to coordinate events to work out just the right way for everyone involved.
Everything that happens to you, is about you. It’s a story the Universe is continuously weaving for you, matching exactly the energy that you are sending out moment-by-moment.
Of course, there are billions of stories, all being weaved at the same time. When your story interacts with that of another person, they mesh perfectly. But, it still holds true that whatever happens to you, is about and for you.
Every client I receive is the perfect client for me at that moment. They are my manifestation, and match exactly the energy I’ve been sending out. If I get a rather difficult client, it’s because somehow, I was a match to having a difficult client. Similarly, if I’m able to create fast changes in my client, I’m also a match to that.
At the same time as all of the above, I’m the perfect manifestation for each client who comes to me. That’s not meant out of pride, just a simple fact of the operation of universal laws. If someone is helped by me, it’s because they were a match to being helped, and I was the closest energetic match to that intention.
Something I’ve realized, too, is that if someone isn’t ready to be helped, I cannot force that on them. If they’re not a match to the kinds of changes I’d love to see for them, there’s unfortunately nothing I can do.
As a bit of a more complex example, imagine what kind of manifestation this blog is for all those who read it daily. For some, it has had a huge impact, as evidenced by the emails I frequently receive. For others, it resonates, but change comes more slowly. For each reader, it is perfectly what it needs to be.
And on the other hand, each and every reader and commenter is a manifestation for me. It reflects exactly the energy I’m sending out in regards to this blog.
The Universe keeps all of these stories straight, and perfectly matches the energy of each person involved.
Now imagine a day in your own life. Imagine all the people you cross paths with, both in physical life as well as online. Imagine how each event is a perfect manifestation of your energy, and your encounters with others are perfect manifestations for them, too, whether positive or negative.
Luckily, you don’t have to keep track of all of this. Just recognize the fact that your story is about you.
When Events Seem to Be Out of Your Control
Quite often, events might seem to be totally out of control, perhaps caused by someone else in your life. At such times, it might seem like it has nothing to do with you or your resistance.
I recently spoke to someone who believed that the lack of results with their manifestation had to do with someone else in their life, and not with their own resistance. From an objective standpoint, I could see exactly what the resistance was and why the Universe was sending them the results they were getting, but they were unable to see it for themselves.
But, nothing can ever happen in your experience which isn’t a perfect match to your energy.
Let’s say you apply for a job. There are many other applicants besides you for the same position.
Now, let’s say you’re turned down for the job. You might be tempted to believe that it was just at the whim of whoever was doing the hiring. After all, only one person could get the position, and all the others would be rejected, right?
But, if your energy weren’t a match to being rejected for the job, you either (1) would have never applied for this job to begin with, or (2) would have been hired.
As I said, there are no accidents. The Universe does not make mistakes.
But what about free will? Doesn’t the one doing the hiring have the free will to hire whomever he or she chooses?
Of course. But, to understand this more deeply, we’ll have to refer back to the concept of parallel realities.
Imagine that with every decision, a parallel reality branches off where a particular decision was made. Most people discuss this in terms of actions, but I believe it could even be on the level of which thoughts you choose to focus on. After all, this is still a decision.
Now, if this is true, then there is a parallel reality where any conceivable event has taken place.
So, let’s imagine this hiring manager, and imagine there are 20 applicants for this position. According to this theory, there are (at least) 20 different realities, each with a different applicant being hired.
If you aren’t hired, it means that you weren’t a match to being in the reality where that was true for you.
It doesn’t take away free will; it simply allows for every possible choice to be true.
And so, if you were not hired for this job, it is still all about you, not about the free will of anyone else. If you are a match to something, then there is nothing in the world that can stop that thing from being attracted to you.
Discovering the Message Behind Your Resistance
This is actually great news! It means that if you have not achieved your desire, it is in your power to change that.
How, precisely?
The only thing stopping your desire from coming to you is your own resistance to it. Therefore, if it is not yet here, then it follows that you have resistance.
Again, let that sink in for a moment before continuing. Imagine your most important manifestation, which has not yet arrived. Realize, beyond a doubt, that the lack of your manifestation stems from your own resistance, and nothing else.
The moment that you are a match to it, it will be inexorably drawn to you, quickly and effortlessly.
Now that you’ve understood that, the question is how to know what exactly the Universe is trying to communicate through your resistance.
This is another point where the ingenious design of the Universe is apparent. The key to your own freedom is always present within the bondage.
That is, your reaction to the resistance will tell you exactly what is blocking the way.
Let’s go back to the example of the hypothetical job, which you were not hired for.
How will you react? Will you:
- Believe yourself unworthy of a job,
- Call life unfair for making things so hard for you,
- Tell everyone how bad the economy is now,
- Feel guilty over not providing for your family, or
- Simply move on, realizing there is likely a better job out there for you.
Each of the above is going to reveal something different about you.
Only #5 shows no resistance, and would indicate that this job simply wasn’t a fit, and the Universe was readying you for your perfect match.
However, the other items demonstrate some point of resistance, either about you, the economy, or life as a whole.
Once you know your reaction, you know the root of that resistance, and can easily release it.
The Universe Runs on Emotions
I said earlier that every experience has meaning for you.
I slightly overstated it, though not by much. The bird chirping outside your window probably does not have personal significance, except under certain circumstances, of course.
However, to state it more accurately, every experience with an emotional charge has personal meaning to you.
If you hear that bird and wonder at the beauty of nature, then it is a positive manifestation for you. If your reaction is merely neutral, then it is not.
If someone cuts you off in traffic and you get angry, that’s a negative manifestation. If they cut you off and you have no reaction, then it is not.
The Universe is built on emotions (actually, it’s built on energy, but emotions are simply our indicators of energy). Your emotional reactions are what keep the Universe in motion. It is the magnetic force of the law of attraction.
When you react emotionally to some stimulus, you’re telling your subconscious mind that this is important to you. It therefore tunes to that energy even more, and the Universe brings you more things like it.
This goes for positive and negative emotions alike. If you react to that bird as a sign of beauty in nature, you’re asking for more beautiful experiences like that. Similarly, if you react to that car cutting you off in traffic, you’re asking for more experiences like that as well.
If you realized the power of your emotions, you would keep a much closer watch over them. They are the fabric of your reality. They are the paint with which you create your work of art. They are the notes with which you compose your song.
But, besides all this, they are also your warning system. When resistance pops up, it is sure to create negative emotion, because otherwise it simply could not be drawn to you.
As this negative emotion arises, you’ll know exactly what is triggering you, and learn how to deal with it appropriately.
Removing the Emotional Charge
How do you deal with it? By removing the emotional charge of resistance, of course.
If you’re cut off in traffic, and you start to get angry, stop yourself and let that anger go. The more you let it go, the more you release that situation from your future reality.
Similarly, if you’re rejected from that job and you react by feeling worthless, see it as the warning that it is, instead of believing in it. If you are able to let go of that emotional charge, then similar situations in the future will be much less likely to occur.
I realize this is difficult. We tend to believe absolutely in our emotions. If we feel worthless, for example, there’s simply nothing that suggests that this emotion might not be true. It is simply taken on as a fact.
But if you question and confront each of your negative emotions, then you can have the self-awareness to release them, and create something new.
The only solution is to not react. You can call it surrender, mindfulness, letting go, radical acceptance, or whatever you like.
However, it is simply about noticing the resistance, and just allowing it to be, free of your emotional reaction to it.
As you do so, the emotional charge simply flows away, touched by the light of pure awareness.
So, going back to our job example, let’s say you were rejected, and feel worthless as a result.
Instead of believing in that emotion and feeding it more energy, and therefore making it more powerful, you instead simply notice it. You allow it to come, without giving in to it, and allow it to go just as quickly.
Pretty soon, the underlying state of profound Peace, which is your true essence, begins to shine through. This is your proof that you’ve made progress with this particular resistance. It may still come back, but much less intense as before.
At the same time, only give emotional credence to whatever you would like to create more of. When you experience some emotion, especially a strong one, ask yourself, “Would I like to create more experiences that feel like this?” If the answer is no, then shift to a more positive emotion as much as you can.
In this way, you will be telling your subconscious mind what is truly important to you, and so telling the Universe to create more of that.
How About You?
Now it’s your turn. What do you think your resistance is telling you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Surrendering to powerful negative emotions feels like dying, which is apt, because that’s exactly what’s happening when we do that.
I still feel quite resentful that TU (the universe, I get sick of typing it out!) forces us to do everything its way. It seems extremely controlling and manipulative. But then again if I see that as me doing the controlling/manipulating, it’s easier to bear.
I feel that TU is one big, sadistic asshole. I also feel like things are forced on us. Like, I intend well, feel okay, and then I start feeling awful for no reason. I allow the emotions, but nothing’s moving. I want to be happy, but I can’t right now, because there’s some goddamn blockage, and I’m totally powerless against it. It really feels like TU is extremely controlling and manipulative. If I could turn TU into a human, I’d beat the crap out of its sadistic ass over and and over and over again. Seriously, how can this faulty piece of shit called the Universe exist? There’s no free will, we all have to surrender into submission if we ever want some peace and relief. That’s not freedom, that’s “shut up and put up with all the crap I shove down your way, and you might just get lucky enough to get some mercy from me”.
Yeh I know exactly what you’re saying z. I found some help reading the first chapter of Dispenza’s book “You are the Placebo”. He tells of his recovery from a very dire situation, and how much he had to force his thoughts to be aligned with his desires. Not just for 5 minutes but hours on end. He worked extremely hard but saw results appear very quickly when he did massive hours-long work.
Yes, you must keep at it for any results to be seen. I am telling you, it is re-programming yourself. I’ve been practicing with some instances and it has worked, so it is a matter of making it my dominant state, so to speak. I have been there before in my life, but with all the tumult along the way I forgot!
CJ and Z,
I honestly have trouble seeing where you are coming from about the Universe being manipulative. As I’ve said before, you wouldn’t call the law of gravity manipulative, would you? It’s simply a law. It’s not a divine being sitting up there and determining who gets positive manifestations and who gets the negative.
Z, it’s your own resistance and subconscious programs that cause negative thoughts to come back up. That’s not the Universe.
Also, there is absolutely free will. Surrender is just to get out of the way so the Universe can do its thing and bring you the results you want.
I don’t see it as faulty at all. In fact, I see it as rather beautiful in its flawless way of matching the energy you’re sending out there, moment-by-moment.
And yes I agree that you must keep at it. You are programmed subconsciously right now to get the results you are getting. That cannot be the Universe’s fault. You must intentionally focus on the thoughts you want to create more of.
Hope this all makes sense.
Brandon,
Manipulative in the sense that you have to comply and submit to it, otherwise you suffer. Basically TU is saying “if you want to be an individual [ego], you’re going to be open to suffering”. That’s a true statement, surely?
Gravity is a powerful law, but if you want to defy it and be free of it, you can hop in a jet, fly into space and do just that. You aren’t made to suffer for making that choice.
Basically what we all want is to be an ego who doesn’t suffer, but it’s not possible. Not possible for anyone. Individuality and suffering are inextricably intertwined. The law is “surrender or suffer”. I’m getting used to it though. At some point you get so sick of suffering that it’s like you just HAVE to let go.
I just figured something out. Breakthrough!
If suffering has become linked to one’s identity (through sheer repetition or a martyr complex) , then to let that go can feel threatening, because you’d cease to exist psychologically. Yeh, I think that’s it.
If I’m right with that, then the solution is to create an ego-identity which is based on getting everything one wants. Just to continually focus on ‘me and my desires’.
CJ,
Sorry, but I must disagree. It is not “surrender or suffer”, or anything like that. I’m not sure where you are getting these ideas.
First of all, you’re not defying gravity by flying in an airplane. You’re simply using it in very well-defined ways to accomplish your will. Sort of like, perhaps, the law of attraction? 🙂 But, if you leap off of a 10-story building, gravity won’t be so friendly, and you’ll certainly suffer.
Do you see the parallel? If you want to manifest, like getting in that airplane and flying 30,000 feet above the ground, that’s available to you. But, if you try to go against the law, then you’ll feel the consequences of that.
You don’t have to submit to anything. That would require that you were separate from the Universe. That’s like the wave saying it has to submit to the ocean. That’d be silly. It is the ocean. You are the Universe.
To answer your question, suffering can definitely become part of your identity. But, I never advise creating a new identity. You should stand apart from any and all identities. You are not an ego identity. You are that which is beyond all identities. That’s the whole purpose of your time here: realizing your true essence.
“But, if you try to go against the law, then you’ll feel the consequences of that”.
Right. Isn’t that exactly what I said? There’s no real freedom, unless you’re happy to wear the painful consequences.
No, that’s not the same thing at all.
If you surrender, then your intentions become reality. How is that suffering the consequences? It’s not like you have to give up your desires. Your desires can be manifested, but only if you stop trying to control how they manifest.
Also, you said if you want to be an ego, you have to be open to suffering.
Firstly, you are not an ego. You are that which is beyond ego. So, you will never, and can never, be ego.
Secondly, suffering is not a must. It is not desirable. Suffering simply results when you resist life. Be who you are, go with the flow, set your intentions confidently, and you will not suffer. That is a fact.
“Firstly, you are not an ego”.
That’s not known to me as an experiential reality. Nor is it known as an experiential reality to 99.99999% of the population. We live as egos and some occasionally go beyond that and become enlightened.
So I can agree that your statement is likely to be true but since I haven’t experienced that, it remains in the realm of ‘potential truth’. I’m assuming we’re all in the same boat in that sense. None of us is enlightened…right?
Enlightened is a very tricky term. I’ve definitely experienced the Self that is beyond ego. I think many have, though admittedly not a great number as you said. But, more and more are seeing the truth of who they are today. For myself, I would not speak of it if I had not experienced it.
You, too, can easily experience it, however. It is not a difficult thing to do, if you are seeking for freedom.

Good post Brandon
Is that what masters do then, Brandon, they master their emotional state? Peace within, so without? Thus, becoming part of flow rather than resistance.
So, the more you resist, the more the thing persists. It just keeps coming and you get more of it. You not paying attention to it and reacting to it makes it go and you are free to create what you want.
This is a great way to create on your own. I think of children who have temper tantrums and people give in to make it quiet vs the child who does not and just moves on to the next thing without being dependent on that particular thing because it is no big deal anyway. If you can speak more about this example, it would be great!
How about if you want to experience one of those other realities? The guy who quantum jumps goes to those other realities and gets information from them and improves his life in this reality. You are saying that our emotional state will create that particular reality, and I think through meditation you can get to all the other realities.
Hi Kat,
Yes you are exactly right on all points. 🙂
Well, actually you are shifting to those realities as you focus on different emotions. It doesn’t require meditation at all. Every time you give a particular emotion your focus, you enter a reality where that emotion is more prevalent. Focus on abundance, and you enter a reality where abundance is more prevalent for you. Focus on lack, and you enter a reality where lack is more prevalent for you.
You’re shifting realities all the time, without knowing it. 🙂
Hope that makes sense.
Aahhhaaaa post Brandon ????. It’s all about our emotions and our reactions to them. Understanding negative emotions as soon as they trigger and letting them go quickly takes a practice . Because I think our instant negative reactions are part of habitual response. It means old program still running without our control. But when we consciously start reacting then program kind of slows down. What I noticed was when something unwanted happen my both minds start talking. My subconscious mind says I didn’t like that and I am so angry or sad . But conscious mind says it’s ok there is nothing to get angry or sad about. Leave it. Let’s move on. I purposely divert myself and think about something totally different. Yes there were times where I slipped back to old response but now it doesn’t take me so long to recover and most important is to realize this is not how I want to feel. I do little analysis of my reactions and try to find out my resistance. I think it’s all about becoming your own friend come critic. Who will tell you from time to time what you need to keep and what you need to drop.
Thank you for explaining things in simple way 🙂 . I liked the example you gave.
Hi Rhea,
Thanks for your comment. Yes you are exactly right. Your reaction to external experiences is the most important, and determines what manifestations you will see in the future. Very well stated.

When we mindfully allow, would it be good and recommended to sit or lie down and relax the bodily muscles as much as possible, or does it not matter if we are walking, writing, washing the dishes, or something like that, when mindfully allowing?
Hi Z,
The body can be doing anything. Sometimes it can help to sit still at first, while you’re getting better at mindfulness. But, mindfulness can certainly be done during any activity.
I’m glad to hear that. This gives much more freedom to allowing. Thanks!
