So, you know that you have a higher self, and what it is doing for you in the background. But, You even know some simple ways of hearing your higher self.
But, it’s not foolproof. What if there was a way, though, that you could flawlessly understand what your higher self was trying to tell you, every single time?
Just because your higher self is spiritual, and you are here in a physical body, doesn’t mean that there aren’t means of communication. Would it make any sense if you came into this world without such a means—without communicating being fairly easy?
Now this doesn’t mean that everyone does it. In fact, it’s rather common for people to do exactly the opposite of what their higher self is communicating to them. But, it is possible, and rather easy once you realize how it really works.
How Well Are You Listening?
Your higher self will communicate with you in whatever way is necessary to get your attention. It wants to be having intimate conversations at any time of the day. It wants to tell you you’re doing an awesome job when you’re really creating the things you want. It wants to let you know when you’re focusing in a way that’ll bring unwanted manifestations.
But, if you’re not listening, it’ll use other means, too. It all depends how well you are listening.
when You’re Not Listening At All
If you’re totally ignoring your inner guidance, things can get a little painful. Dramatic experiences may be drawn your way. This is when life-changing events can happen.
I want to note first of all that this is not in judgment. Your higher self is never judging you. Your higher self is not trying to teach you lessons, or test you. It is not trying to deny you something that you want.
This sort of idea is purely a fear-based construct from organized religion. Neither God, your higher self, nor anyone else is judging your actions or testing you in any way.
In fact, really, according to the law of attraction, you are drawing these experiences to you. They are a result of the disconnect between you and your higher self.
But, these dramatic experiences are showing you something loud and clear. They are showing you that you aren’t paying attention. They are showing you that you have some major resistance going on.
Really, they are pointing the way out. They are your higher self showing you how you can be happier, by heeding the message contained in these experiences.
When You Are a Part-Time Listener
Now perhaps if you are listening a bit better than that, then things don’t need to get to this level. The next level down from your higher self “shouting” via dramatic experiences, is random everyday annoyances. Someone cuts you off in traffic. Maybe you have an argument with your partner. Perhaps an unexpected bill comes in the mail that has you a bit stressed, but not to the point of panic.
This is where most people in the world are. They have enough awareness to follow the guidance of their higher self here and there, but only when it purposefully sends some external event to get their attention.
Most people are externally based in reality, so really the only messages they can receive are external ones.
But these can also become a trap. When things are good, things are good. And when things are bad, things are bad.
Such a person in this position is really only creating by default, according to what they are seeing in the world. But as long as they don’t become too hyper focused on some negative experience, things go just fine.
But there is often an emptiness. There is a sense that they aren’t living up to their full potential. Perhaps the job is unfulfilling. Maybe money is a bit tight, or they are living paycheck-to-paycheck.
But, “This is just life,” they justify to themselves. “This is how it is for everyone.”
And the higher self will send little nudges here and there. Maybe they’ll pick up a self-help book about how to be happy. Or they’ll go back to college to finally study what they wanted to study. Or they downsize and move into a smaller home to make life simpler.
So, this person is not totally lost. Ultimately, no person is lost at all. If they die never having known the great power they hold, they can just try it again next time.
But, there is a better way. There is the way that you were meant to live.
Hearing the Whispers of Your Higher Self
What if your higher self could whisper, and you could hear exactly what it was trying to tell you?
As I said, the people I discussed above are largely externally focused.
To hear the whispers of your higher self, you have to be internally focused.
You have to realize that the inner is actually more real than the outer. You have to realize that the outer is little more than a projection of the inner.
This is the knowledge that your higher self has. And, it wants you to share in this knowledge, so that you can shape your outer reality as you like.
But not only that. It wants you to share in this knowledge that you can be happy, because happiness is only found internally.
So how do you understand these whispers?
Your Internal Connection to Your Higher Self
Your internal connection to your higher self is so simple that you may have totally overlooked it. It is something that you experience every day.
It is your emotions.
How is this? So many people actually distrust their own emotions. They are an inconvenience.
But, they are your higher self whispering to you.
It is actually very simple. When you are feeling good, that is your higher self telling you that you are focused in a way that is going to bring more wanted manifestations into your reality.
In other words, it means you are on the right track.
The more positive the emotion, the smaller the gap between your vibration and the vibration of your higher self.
That means the better you feel, the better off you are.
On the other hand, a negative emotion means that you are focused in a way that is going to bring more unwanted manifestations into your reality. It means you are headed in a direction you won’t like.
The worse that negative emotion, the larger the gap between your vibration and the vibration of your higher self.
It is really quite simple, as I said above. It is like a compass. The closer you are to north (your highest good), the better you feel. The further away you are (anything but your highest good), the worse you feel.
Can You Trust Your Emotions?
Many people act in the opposite way. If something feels too good, it is “too good to be true.” If something feels bad, they say, “No pain, no gain.”
We idealize stories of sacrifice, but look down on someone whose life has been too easy. We want to hear that they’ve suffered to get to where they are.
In short, we make suffering into a virtue, and ease into a vice.
Is it any wonder that people feel so empty and unfulfilled? The one definitive signal they have from their higher self, they are ignoring and actually making into a bad thing.
But I assure you, you can trust in your emotions. They are your inner guidance, directly from your higher self.
“But Won’t It Mean I’m Selfish?”
There’s the common idea that if you only do what feels good to you, and don’t do what feels bad to you, this is somehow selfish.
This is an entire post in and of itself, so I won’t say much on it here. But I’d just say this one thing:
If you are feeling bad, it is literally impossible for any good to come out of it.
Sure, you might see some good on the surface, but energetically speaking, which is really the most important way of seeing things, it is only bringing about more of that which feels bad.
Let’s say your friend asks to borrow $100. You feel guilty, but you also feel fearful about giving that much. But, he’s a friend; shouldn’t you do what you can to help?
So, out of guilt, you give the $100.
Now what happens?
- You’ve given out of a place of lack
- Your inner sense of lack results in more lack on the outside
- Moreover, you’ve reenforced your friend’s feeling of lack as well, because your lack cannot generate abundance in him
- Because of your own lack, and your friend’s lack, you’re not likely to get the $100 back
Not good, is it? Even though it seemed like “the right thing to do,” it only brought about more of the same.
Now let’s say your friend asks for $100. You feel good. You’re abundant, and you know that whatever you give out of abundance will only generate more abundance.
Now what happens?
- You’ve given out of a place of abundance
- Your sense of inner abundance generates more outer abundance
- You’ve inspired an opening for abundance in your friend, if he is in the vicinity of it
- Because of your own abundance, and the abundant energy with which the money was given, you’re more likely to receive it back, either from the friend or from another source
I want to evaluate this third point a bit more, about what this is going to inspire within your friend.
You see, giving out of a sense of lack can only really create more lack in your friend. He couldn’t have asked otherwise, because energy only attracts more that is like itself.
However, if you give out of abundance, you are inspiring abundance in your friend. It doesn’t mean he necessarily will turn his financial situation around because of this one encounter, but he will know the energy of abundance that little bit more, which could make a difference.
Now if in the first case where you felt guilty, you decided to listen to your emotional guidance system and not give that $100, then you would be spared that lackful energy, as would your friend. You would feel relieved as a result, which is the greatest sign that you have done the right thing.
The Power of Relief
Relief is a sign from your higher self that you’ve just unblocked some resistance. It is the feeling of stuck energy beginning to flow again.
When you do, or do not, do something, and you feel that sense of relief, that is the sign that you’ve done exactly the right thing.
When I made the decision to leave Islam, I felt an unbelievable sense of relief. It was exceedingly obvious to me that I had made the perfect decision.
You can bring this relief about at any time, even when you’re not making a decision.
From any vibration, good or bad, there is a step up. Energy is infinite, and you can never reach the limit of upward growth.
And as I said, the feeling of “stepping up” vibrationally is the feeling of relief.
It eventually becomes a very visceral experience. You suddenly feel a great sense of relief, and you feel much better. You can get to this relief by simply choosing better-feeling thoughts, or focusing on things that make you feel better. It is really that simple.
Sometimes, “Better” means “less bad”. It is very hard to jump from depression to joy. But, there is a step up from depression, and that is to feel a little less bad. It might be guilt, or perhaps anger. Even though it still doesn’t feel great, it feels a lot better then where you were before.
The Path to Your Highest Good
With the tools you’ve learned here, you know the path to your highest good. To take the next step on that path, you simply find the relief from your current emotion.
The next step on that path is to just find a bit of relief. It doesn’t have to be massive, but it’s just to feel a little better, and then to feel a little better, and then to feel a little better.
If you keep doing this, you are guaranteed to reach your highest good. Every improvement in your vibration will translate to an improvement in your reality, too, effortlessly and with perfect ease.
And even if you move away from your highest good, there doesn’t need to be any judgment. You know the way back to your highest good. At the very least, you know the next step.
It takes a constant inner awareness of your own inner state. I call this having a moment-by-moment awareness. If you notice that you’ve focused on something that feels bad, you can take a moment and feel better.
That’s the process. And if you do this, you’ll be right in step with your higher self. It won’t have to shout anymore, because you’ll have decoded the greatest means of communication available to you.
Now that you know how to better communicate with your higher self to achieve better results in life, would you like to know what other misconceptions about the law of attraction you might have? Clearing up your misconceptions will effortlessly translate into better results with the law of attraction, if you successfully apply the right tools.

I’m comparing the emotions barometer to a sliding scale. I use the energy of emotion to decide whether I want to do a thing or not. Such as, whether or not it is in my best interest to work out, or study. I’m refining this technique, and it is quite reliable. I literally ask my-self to help me construct my day, and just feel it out.
Justin
Hey Justin,
Yes, that’s exactly it. It is a scale from very negative to very positive. Except, it’s an infinite scale, because there’s no end to how negative you can go, and there’s no limit to how positive you can go. It’s pretty awesome, really. 😀
